The last couple of years have been rough, and after a string of unfortunate deaths in the family, TJ Harris has been left alone in the world, except for his son. When this Divine System rips Junior away from him and demands that he fight to reunite with his family, TJ is left with no other choice but to dive headfirst into a merciless battle against nature itself and his fellow Participants.

Each person is offered the Quest to gain one of four Classes, and TJ is inexplicably drawn to one of them. As a descendant of Kukulkan, the Mayan feathered serpent god, he’s assured that this Class suits him… but will it give him the strength necessary to survive a world gone mad? LitRPG isn't something I ever thought I'd get into or enjoy, but I found this story to be interesting, and I'll keep reading.
Some minor typos etc that don't detract too much from the story.
Overall, I think that any reader would benefit from giving it a chance. At least get to chapter 7.
Well done, and when is chapter 10???

TJ's frantic and surreal introduction to a divine challenge is heart-pounding as he grapples with a world turned upside down. Stranded in an unknown wilderness and severed from his son, TJ is thrust into a bizarre tutorial of divine ascension where he must adapt to survivalist tactics amidst the creeping reality of supernatural stakes. The narrative skillfully merges the mundane with the mystical, setting TJ on a quest that promises both high stakes and profound transformations. Through engaging dialogue with a mysterious Divine System, TJ's path is dotted with obstacles that test his physical and moral fiber, ensuring that his journey is as introspective as it is perilous. This chapter serves as a compelling foundation for TJ's quest, blending intense action with a father's desperate love.

Mayan + other mythologies combine with brutal combat to make this my new favorite story of the year. The author does a great job getting us into this new divine system. Every character has realistic motivations which makes getting yourself into their shoes much easier. Also, sometimes the author really plays with POVs in a way that makes everyone's scale of good vs. bad a real grey area. The setting is beautifully described and the pacing is perfect. Something about how the author describes combat makes it feel visceral and gripping. Actions have consequences, and the MC is not invulnerable.
What I'm most excited about is not just the scaling of the character, but a reveal as to how Earth IRL is impacted by this "Divine System". It's obvious that the author is from Arizona, and there's lots of calls to real places. So, I'm wondering if this will be Harry Potter-esque where this divine world is layered into the real world, or if there's been some major time skip and something truly apocalyptic has happened (as the title and story description may indicate).
After reading the released 9 chapters, I give this an overall 10/10, I am very excited to read. Also, daily updates are appreciated! If you've read any of this author's other works you know that you're in for a treat! His worlds are big and you grow attached to all the characters real quick.
4.5/5 stars for grammar because sometimes he misses something tiny ;)

Thoroughly enjoyed the way the main character progresses and grows through a mythologically based magic. I am extremely excited to see how he continues and matures as the story goes along. Definitely an intriguing main character with very real motives. I can’t wait to read more! I’ll be waiting for the next chapters to come out!

I’ve read as far as is available right now, and I’ve enjoyed it all! Brutal action and snake forms are great, and I like it all!
I don’t have anything else to say. It’s good! I like this story. I just want more characters to show up, since it’s just been him so far.

This story sat on my "To be read" list for quite a while, with me being unsure if it was actually good. But after actually getting into it I binged the entire story (so far) in under 3 hours. It has great characters, with many of them being realistic, even though I may not agree philosophialy with them, they are wholy understandable, and that makes them very enjoyable to follow in a story. The fights were pretty fun to read, but the one thing I regret not being explored more in depth is
the crafting system, while it is explored in the latest chapters, I am still waiting for an item from a god blessed animal, cuz the Anubis Jackal pelt has primed the Chekhov's gun, and it has yet to fire off.
But other than that tease, I am pretty happy with the story so continue onward, and gods speed :D

I am an avid reader of the author's first work, and upon reaching its most recent chapters, I discovered that he was working on a new book. Without hesitation, I dove headfirst into this new journey, and I must say—my experience was anything but disappointing. Each page transported me to a vibrant and meticulously crafted world, reaffirming the author's talent for weaving fascinating universes.
    Style – 10/10
Just as in his previous work, the writing style here captivated me completely. The narrative flows smoothly and engagingly, without stumbles or excesses that might break immersion. Every word seems to be perfectly placed, guiding the reader seamlessly through the story without causing any discomfort or dissonance.
    Story – 10/10
If there is one aspect in which this book shines brilliantly, it is in the richness and depth of its story. The author manages to bring freshness to a genre that has been widely explored—an apocalypse with a system—and does so masterfully. His unique touch lies not only in his creativity but in his dedication to exploring mythologies and creatures that are rarely featured in other narratives.
What impressed me the most was the respectful and thoughtful way in which the author integrates unconventional monsters, entities, and deities into his universe. Even when blending different cultures and folklore, he preserves the essence of each being, avoiding unnecessary distortions. This demonstrates not only vast knowledge but also a genuine respect for the stories that inspire him.
    Grammar – 10/10
I am not particularly strict when it comes to grammar, as I rarely notice minor errors unless they are glaring enough to break my immersion. However, throughout the chapters, I encountered nothing that disrupted the reading experience. The text is well-structured, clear, and carefully revised, ensuring impeccable fluency.
    Characters – 10/10
Here lies one of the greatest triumphs of this work. From the protagonist to the most seemingly insignificant su

Since I’m a Debby Downer I’ll start with the bad, I do however hasten to mention that they are far fewer than the positives.
So the only real complaint I have is that —at least in the first book— side characters were difficult to remember and differentiate unless that had some remarkable feature or had unique/stand out names.
The style is very good in my mind and does enough that the story feels more than just fight A to fight B.
Speaking of fights the fights are very fun to read through as it just feels so different and brutal from other stories even should they be similar nonhuman mcs. That isn’t to say this is a non human mc he’s just a little special.
Grammar is fine I haven’t noticed any problems but I’m not the most attentive. Speaking of grammar the names of some gods and monsters are something I have great difficulty pronouncing being an American myself but I don’t think they are so frequent that it’s frustrating. I’m not kidding when I say this hurts my younger by the way like how in the hells do you pronounce Xotol???
Sick monsters I love how it’s not just “oh here’s an orc or hey look at that tree sized wolf”. It’s more like woah what the hell we’re ancient people on that’s a horrifying thought made manifest, or just something mundane like a coyote or jackal instead of a wolf.

Classic system apocalypse with the twist being the system's theme: look a the title, mythos, gods, etc.
And honestly it's enough of a twist to become it's own quite enjoyable and somewhat original read.
The fighting, actions, and abilities feels good, his struggles feel natural, the dialogue and social interactions... while logically they work, the way the author goes about wording them and the lack of depth in a decent chunk of them gives it a somewhat forced or unnatural feeling.
Will drop the book, but honestly give it a go, see if it's a problem or not to you.
Edit: Didn't drop it just cause of that, but it was a big reason
