I am really enjoying the story! It was a somewhat slow start, with the MC suffering through change, but once he became less reactive and more proactive to meet his needs, it gets really interesting! The crafting, experimenting, and the ongoing development with his bonds are great! I am also enjoying the growing complexity of the world and situations! The challenges and solutions are interesting to read!

I am listening to Taming Destiny on Audible, but I first discovered it and the author on Royal Road. Though I'm only eight chapters in (about 5 hours), I wanted to be sure to review it early into its Audible release. I will continue reading. I apologize for any spoilers.
    Story:
This story follows our MC, Markus Wolfe. He is a man offered a second chance at life in a world of magic. He accepts an invitation/inheritance (so to speak) and is transported to a wild, uninhabited realm where he must earn his way into a new life. Markus grapples with monsters, mysterious skills, and his own worthiness in this new world- quite a change of scenery for him.
    Style:
This story is for crunchy LitRPG lovers. The focus, so far, has been on Markus trying to figure out how to level and apply skill points. Markus is a quick learner, and I'm starting to understand why he was chosen. Despite the crunch, the pacing is solid, intertwined with numerous encounters that allows the MC to try out his weapons and abilities. The author's writing is clean, with some introspective dark humor. The first-person voice is consistent and helps you understand what Markus is going through and what parts of his past have led him there.
    Grammar:
British English is used consistently (I'm wondering if the Author is from Wales). The story is well-edited and professionally done, which is important to say about a story that originated on RR. I am not one to focus extensively on punctuation, but I was never taken out of the story based no the grammar.
    Characters:
There are only three notable characters in the first 8 chapters. Markus Wolfe, the MC, and Lord Nicholas Titanbend of Azaarde. This is the guy that wants to grant Markus all of his powers, if only Markus can prove himself. The third and final character I want to mention is the large jungle cat creature (and offspring) that Markus just met. This creature can speak telepathically with the character.
My favorite parts so far has been the introduction of th

I usually have a hard time getting immersed in first person perspective stories, but S. L. Winter has gone above and beyond my expectations with this one. The prologue hooked me, and the first chapter reeled me right in!
This is my first time reading a tamer class story, and I'm really starting to question why i have not seen more of them. This is FUN!!
I'm not fully caught up, but the story itself has thus far been excellent. Down on his luck and looking for a way out, Markus finds himself in possesion of a token that might very well provide everything he's ever wanted and more. But this new life isnt free. This fresh start comes with some some harsh requirements.
The authors style is crisp and clean. The story is obviously well-thought-out, and the pacing is excellent.
As far as grammer goes, it is GREAT!! All of my favorite authors are from overseas, so the proper English spelling is like a breath of fresh air in my vulgar American lungs.
As for the character, Markus is extremely relatable, likable, smart, and close to perfection when it comes to 'Self Insertion'.
All in all, I Highly recommend Taming Destiny. Not only for fans of Lit-rpg/progression, but anyone who enjoys some good fantasy is in for a treat with this one.

    Overall
While I am still reading it, so far it is off to a wonderful start.  From the start it is filled with action and adventure, leading into world that is thought out and detailed. I'm excited to see where the rest of the story goes.
    Style
The style is a nice change of pace with how the world is introduced. It's gradual and straightforward making it easy to get into. It's also unique in the fact that it's introduction also serves as part of the plot which hooks the reader into the characters plight.
    Story
The story follows a character who wants a way out and finds more than he bargains for in the process. I always MC's who are tamers and the world building that follows our MC excited me for all the things to come.
    Grammar
I didn't notice any grammatical errors and the paragraph structure flowed well with the story being told. So i don't expect any problems that will break immersion.
    Character
Where I am at in the story the protagonist is still alone and finding his way, but as a character he is fun. The author has managed to bring the character to life and relate him to the reader in a way that makes you want to keep reading.
Overall it is a great story and I am looking forward to continuing .

I am not a huge fan of first person, but that's not something to ding the author on. It's her style and she does it well.
So, if that's the case why did I keep reading? The same reason everyone and their brother had a hunter alt in WoW. Pet classes are awesome, and S. Winter's treatment of them in an Isekai sense is everything I hoped it would be. Come for the pets, stay for the exquisite world building.

Coming back to this story after a few month to start reading until up to date again, I don't remember everything from the first 80 chapters or so, but in my opinion the hero is progressing nicely physically and mentally. Bonding to a variety of beast, he is getting a grip of himself and the world around him. I enjoy accompaning him on his journey. Making friends is a sensible touch. The writingstil is enjoyable. I can't imagine how much Marcus will have grown when his time on this planet is up and how he will fit in with his sponsor. I will stay tuned and soak up every twist and turn.Keep up the excelent work please.

I almost regret picking this up when there are only a few chapters since I need and want more. But I can say now that it's definitely that shows a lot of promise. Of course, it remains to be seen if it can live up to it. But I am looking forward to it.
    Style
The perspective shifts back and forth between the present and what led up to it, which can be confusing if it's not done well. Thankfully, it is. The shifts are clearly marked. And the 'present' perspective makes you want to read the past while also continuing to see what's going to happen. However, the 'present' perspective is still a tad confusing at first since you don't know anything. But that's the point.
    Story
Like I said, I picked this up to early to get a clear read on what the story is really going to be. But so far, there seems to be some promising world-building in store, based on the few interactions with the world around him that the MC has had.
    Grammar
I couldn't find any faults with the grammar, which makes it flawless in my eyes.
    Character
The reader doesn't get to know much about the main character in the beginning, only what has just happened to him. But it seems like he is main-character worthy, just in need of a little development and some fleshing out.

I am thoroughly enjoying this fiction. The pacing. The exploration of the characters psyche. I'm excited to see where we go next.
I feel like there is a bit of repetitive writing in some places, but that same repetitive nature also helps me remember the details of the plot point, so I'm not sure it's a bad thing. Ie, constantly reiterating how constitution affects the body.
It's a very slow grind to over powered, and we're not even close yet, but I'm excited to see the next big jump in growth.
I'm glad this book was written. I want to read more.

Honestly, this is a far more realistic system fic then most of any other I've read (and I've read a lot of them). The MC is literally just an average Joe, that ran into a whole heap of bad luck, and then leaps before he can look. And let me tell you, he gets the best super power a regular person can get, healing! An endurance fighter with healing is a nightmare for any creature that can't one shot them, as he proves over and over and over. Can't wait to see what happens next!
