That is title I have had to live with all of my life. Abandoned at a young age and considered to be a waste of space, I lived my life seeking a purpose. Well, that was until I joined the Maelstrom and it's crew.

I have a feeling that you were planning more for the story but decided to just end it there. It does fit well for a short story.
I like the way you followed the basic structure of story-writing with the: Introduction - rising action - conflict/climax - denoument - conclusion. It's rare to see stories like these in RRL especially with everyone wanting to write something long and epic but ends up dropping the project and unable to give a conclusion.
At least this stroy of yours has a "last chapter".
