Sterkhander - Fight Against The Hordes [WarHammer Inspired/ Litrpg/ Kingdom Building/ Medieval Tactics/ War]

Description
Warhammer Inspired. Kingdom Building - Politics - War and Military - Orc Slaying!
Adrian decapitated the first thing he met. An orc. Then was a vital part in the cleaving of a second. The rest were either slaughtered, most brutally, or cut down during retreat. All under his command. He knew instinctively that murdering anything remotely green was not right. But it felt holy in some odd dystopian way.
Plus, there were endless numbers of them. So a few thousand that went missing wouldn't be a problem. Right?
Stuck as a noble son within the frontiers of a distant colony of the motherland. Faced with endless hordes, political scheming, and an angry neighborly baron who was dead set on conquering them. Knights answer his call for war. The powers that be above them stay lackadaisical and unwilling to help. Famine. Disease.
Did he mention ancient abominations planning world domination? Yeah. That too.

- Lazy GiantRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Is anyone else getting tired of all the new stuff making you feel like you are reading the generic asian LN OP MC crap? I sure am. So this was a nice find to come across.
I haven't written a review in years so I will keep it short.
Story has got heart, a real struggle within its set environment, says "WarHammer inspired" so you can except a certain grit to the story, lots of dynamic group battle scenarios, not much of Kingdom building yet but hopeful for the future, and none of that 'watch me solo the fing universe' formula.
Grammar is a 5. I can read without any major flaws popping up, and that's all that matters to me since I know nothing of grammar.
Though, I do agree with the review that mentioned the scope of world building and System needs more work. I can't suggest anything for the System other than make it easier to understand early on. On the world building front, it feels like there is no real world impact of what MC does nor of the world on him. His whole house could die of suffocation under a pile of green poop and feels like the world would just carry on. I also feel like you tried to bring the nonchalance that WH has towards lives lost to your work but WH is massive in scale so the value of lives is dirt but your scale is limited to a small region in a singular world.
Feel free to correct me if I got something wrong. Subbed the Patreon to check out more of your work. Good luck. - WritingTeacher2025Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sterkhander is an engaging mix of fantasy and adventure. It follows Adrian, a college student who suddenly wakes up in a different body. He is now much larger, stronger, and wearing heavy armor. With memories from both his old life and his new identity as Adrian Sterkhander, he struggles to make sense of his situation while dealing with a noble family that sees him as a failure.
The story blends action, mystery, and a bit of humor as Adrian learns about his new abilities and the world around him. The writing pulls you into his confusion and determination, and the combat scenes are intense and well described. If you like stories about characters thrown into unfamiliar worlds, facing both physical and emotional challenges, Sterkhander is definitely worth checking out. - ZacheasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a war hammer 40k isekai style story. The MC comes from earth and is reincarnated into the body of a space marine named Adrian. He is a massive hulking monster of a man clad in heavy metal armor, and he is thrown head long into a war against hulk with men looking to him for leadership. The man whose body he now inhabits was a skilled and trusted leader who is desperately needed to turn the tide of war. When it comes to combat our MC gets by with the muscle memory of the old Adrian, but does our MC have the skills to fake his way through leading an army to victory. His life may depend on it.
World building. The world building barrows a lot on the existing lore of 40k. However, the story does explain enough for the reader to understand the world the story takes place in. I am reviewing the story early in it's publishing so I only had 10 chapters to work off of.
Characters. There is a lot of good character development. The MC and his of key characters seem to have clear, logical motivations and distinct personalities. My only critique would be that I think TO MUCH character development is established early on. I think it had a slight but forgivable effect of the pacing of the story.
Spelling and grammar: I couldn't find any spelling or grammar errors. very good job.
Overall, This is a fun and action pact story, and you should give it a read. - DarksamaritanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you like warhammer 40 K , Isekai, and LitRPG, this story is for you!
The story does a spin on isekai that I havent read before. The writing itself is very descriptive and imerses you into the universe. It does a good job portraying how somone from a different world would react when thrown into warhammer 40 k
The action scenes are Vivid and make you feel fully imersed.
The dialouge is good and not repetitive.
Overall I think this is an excellent start to a story that has great potential, looking forward to seeing how the mc Deals with the Hordes! - StrangestQuarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like this story quite a bit, the warhammer inspiration is quite clear and I enjoyed reading about hulking armoured behemots as much as the next guy, but I feel like the story relies a bit too much on the reader having a decent idea of WH for the tone. I also think a tiny bit more focus on Adrian's development through the LitRPG system would help the story quite a bit, because currently that part feels like an afterthought that comes up every few chapters at most.
Still, the story is in its early stages and shows quite a bit of promise, so I recommend giving it a go. - yanrrockRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Litrpg kingdom building story that has gone supper indeph with either of those concepts. Additionally the story has a rough start stylistically and feels clunckly to read at first. Thankfully the author knows what they're doing. This books is warrhammer 40k Templar knights in a fantasy world, that fantasy is fulfilled extremely well. The combat is written very clearly and this doesn't change during the larger scale battles. The characters are interesting and feel fleshed out. This story is an underrate gem that deserves more love and is definitely worth completing the entire first arc at minimum to see if it's for you
- AnyTimeNowRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Story is a work in progress.
30+ chapters in and I still feel like I know nothing about the world.
A map of the lands, more detail of the characters over all, and a longer buildup instead of “we set up an ambush and attacked” would be nice.
The beginning is good. There’s a very well done description of the confusion one would have when entering the world. Then MC thinks “of course I would go out and fight, I just got into this cool world.”
In my opinion, time skips should be used at the end of a climax or story instead of every chapter.
I do like the concept and storyline, I will be coming back to this later for sure. - NoTime..Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Its okay.
I think overall it might be missing a bit of world building, character building, system building etc.
Its just missing a lot in every category. But maybe this is my fault for reviewing a bit early.
Anyways with that said its interesting. Has a semi unique premise and seems like it will deliver. Not as much hack and slash gore as I expected but its again likely just too early. I think mc might go on a little training arc before he becomes doom slayer for orcs - Reader1587Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Let's clear up confusion first. This has nothing to do with futuristic WH40k, like some reviews hinted. It is based on a fantasy Warhammer, knights vs. orcs. Humans have hapless cannon fodder in village militia; orcs are supported by goblins. Knights give off some Space Wolves vibes, although they are a bit rowdy and undisciplined, just two steps away from falling to chaos. Style-wise, it is a very light Gamelit. Grammar is mostly fine, nothing that will distract you from the reading. Writing is somewhat disjointed, resembling a bursting dam of the author's imagination and lacking certain structure.
Positives:
A proper grimdark; so far there are no good guys in the author's universe.
Combat parts
Ambivalent:
Undeveloped worldbuilding yet, first fundamental hints in chapter 36
Absence of deities/religion. The first deities are mentioned in chapter 37.
The protagonist has very few issues becoming a native.
Protagonist traits are not fully explained yet.
Only a few interesting female characters.
Early progress hints that the tempo of gaining some levels will be rather slow.
Some knights are indistinguishable from the orcs they are supposed to fight.
Certain story tags are not justified yet.
Lack of reasonable characters. Most of the characters are unhinged or psychotic, including the house lord.
Stronger characterization for some knights would be fine. I cannot recall more than two knights.
Negatives:
The protagonist is not fully taking advantage of his past life experience.
Tactical System Advisor is mostly Captain Obvious of limited value, later disappearing altogether.
Some Gamelit related parts look like they were forgotten by the author later on.
Plot & conflict in the family among the siblings as well as among the knights felt artificial and overblown.
Political parts are confusing and mostly uninteresting.
The protagonist's father is inconsistent with his expected physical state.
Genetically engineered tag in fantasy :-) - Andrew616Royal Road★★★ 3.0Overall this is a great story, I like the world, the magic system seems intriguing, the orc/goblin thing has some potential, it's a cool set up.
The writing style is fine, is a first person account from our usekied MC as he leads his company of Knights around killing orcs.
The story started great, we had out Isekied hero join the fight to save a village and work with the militia, and now is out fighting orcs. I think we've gotten lost in the action of battle though. Now we are just fighting a new battle each chapter. No villages or towns, no interactions and story progression, just fight, fight again, fight a new battle.
The character growth has stagnated. We had a cool isekied dude dealing with multiple memories and reconciling them, then suddenly he's just a bad A Orc killer. He had no growth or advancement, just a good background and set up, that has now been ignored and he is the Knight.
Grammer is terrible. Half sentences, weird word choice, some made up words, a lot of sentences that don't make sense and you have to figure out what they are saying by context. Either very quickly written with no edits, or a non nativ eenglish speaker with no editor.
