Description
Tina Ruttledge had just about had it with post-university life, including a string of dead end jobs that weren't exactly meaningful or even paying the rent in an expensive city like Toronto to live in. And at 24 she's beginning to wonder, as the only thing she's really been into is her dodgeball league, and due to government cuts, her league has been shut down.
Enter Devon Olafson, standing 4' 4" tall with a job offer that seems too good to be true, even if it is just a well paying administrative position in a stuffy office in 'Scarberia' that looks like it would have been more comfortable in the 1980s, a decade or so before she was even born.. Tina knew there was something a bit otherworldly about the short guy whose become her new boss.
But Devon was looking for more than just an out of work millennial, and Tina is about to embark on an adventure that she never could have imagined. And she might even survive it, if she doesn't start throwing muffins, that is.

- Ondine MalineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Again a surprising novel, in a good way
I have no doubt that the author is a professional writer. All his works (I’m following quite a few) are quite different in their own, but all show the same quality. Proof of great skill.
Alas, we live in a world in which success in writing is mostly achieved by luck, and on which hate rating is easily offered by a whim, probably just because this is not litRPG or whatever.
I follow this author with pleasure, mostly for the quality he offers. I don’t have the time to spend on this site very much, but for now, this is the best quality writing I’ve met.
It is refreshing to see that old good school meets new genres and it’s done with taste and skill.
I would recommend his novels to anyone who likes reading for the sake of reading and does not expect the usual stat screen. It’s as good as many of the bestsellers on the market and a very enjoyable lecture. - MarasynRoyal Road★★ 2.0Interesting story idea, but the writing doesn't flow well. The grammar is choppy, and sentences feel cut off or to long. Great concept, but at the moment the writing is difficult to understand.
When switching chapters you may have to reread the previous for context. Some chapters events may need to be peiced tether, or unclear on what is going on. If you picked this story without knowing the summary, the beginning doesn't make sense.
With some extensions on the chapters and some rewriting this has potential be a good read, but right now it feels like a mtl translation.
I tried to read further than two three chapters, but the work doesn't seem to improve in the next chapters either.
The main character seems to be employed in some time travel service that retrieves artifacts, and does a nice job of setting up the idea that the main character didn't realize until they time traveled. This is the most clear part of story, however background details such as the main character living situation, family, and friend relationships are unclear. One chapter says that she lives in her apartment with her college friend, and the next chapters states she lives with her cousin.
