Steel Hearts, Scars of Amber

A decade ago, the people of the nation of Exgrunn unearthed the ruins of an ancient and highly advanced civilization. They organize excursions to explore them and discover runic enchantments that combined with their own - formula based - magic, can have new and broader applications. Three guilds exist that serve the purpose of exploring the ruins:

The Lenses are scholars, archeologists and historians, their job is to unravel the mystery of the ancient country - Larawe.

The Cleavers are knights, mostly nobles of Exgrunn. They are skilled with runic weapons and incantations to further bolster their strength. Cleavers are usually assigned as bodyguards of the Lenses' explorers.

The Wands are an old guild of magical adepts from before the discovery of Larawe. They rarely venture into the ruins, but study and advance the possibilities of combining formulas and runes in magic. They're the only people so far able to conjure runes without carvings, but drawing them in the air with their hands. Wands are also usually of noble descent.

Lady Cleaver Fiannah of Yastra and Master Lens Caldor of Anderon have just been issued their biggest excursion site yet. The first night of the exploration will forever be in Fiannah's mind as: "The mother of all shitty evenings."
