This story is a bit of a slow burn but I am finding it quite enjoyable. After 45 chapters, I still haven’t seen a lot of “progression” or “cultivation” but I sense that it will change soon. I am enjoying the ride and don’t feel bored at all. There are, thankfully, few grammatical errors to take you out of the story. A very strong start, with good characters, so far.

I think that this is a promising premise, I've always like scientifically explained magic, so this fits my alley. However, I also feel like he maybe went for explanations from his Earth instead of doing like his teacher told him to, too fast. As they say, "When in Rome do as the romans do.".
Also he built his microscope after only 2 fail attempts? That feels very biased. Someone told him he couldn't feel the astral and he just believed it at face value? Doesn't fit in my vision of the cliché scientist.
Of course there isn't a lot of chapters yet, but I like what I've read so far. Also there's a cute kitty.

The writing is excellent and the story is compelling to read. Most of it is still focused around the character figuring things out but this is a very good start with lots of potential. The contradiction in the character makes it very interesting because you see the juxtaposition of science along side magic and witchcraft.

Truly, I have been reading the works of Vitaly S Alexius for over a year now, all his fictions I read have a nice scientific touch I much appreciate, and it seems he's getting better too! Observer Causality was honestly my favorite one so far, let's see if this one can change my mind.
About this fiction, it hasn't broken my suspension of disbelief, the character seem reasonable, though of course it's still too early to say much about that, the kitty is very kitty though, so bonus points for that.
The setting is interesting, I can already imagine the MC breaking all magical conventions with the almighty scientific method, and his master's reaction ought to be worth it.
So yeah, bit of an early review but until now seems pretty solid, good work man.

Fun novel. The MC is not stuck to his grove. He finds a way to leave very quickly. So he is able to wonder about when he wants too. The MC does everything in a very scientific method or manner. It is quite fun to read and observe how the MC will learn how to do magic.

Style: Whimsical, but detailed. It isn't anything truly novel, but the setting and events set a serious yet offbeat tone that the author's word choice only supports.
Story: Slow paced, but internally consistent. The rules of the world aren't clear but that's half the fun. Slowly are protagonist puzzles them out with nothing but relentless curiosity, knowledge planted in his brain by an Eldritch river spirit, and a very very helpful precognitive kitten. Also, I about died laughing when the author compared cats to missiles. "It finds where it is by knowing where it isn't." (If you are in the know, you are at least grinning right now)
Grammar Score: Look, I am sure there are mistakes somewhere. But I can't to find them on a cursory look and that is more than good enough for me.
Character Score: Look, our protagonist is impulsive, has the curiosity of biochemist or a twelve year old boy (whichever is greater at any given moment), and may or may not have made a major life decision at the beginning of the book purely (really it was only mostly) out of spite... But it works. Slowly he does the impossible one very small accomplishment at a time. And I imagine having a cat that can see the future and understand your every word is really helpful at avoiding catastrophic setbacks. You know, like pissing off the Eldritch river spirit you got your otherworldy knowledge from, or getting kidnapped by a certain mind meddler who shall go unnamed.
Overall: Really entertaining if you like good science, know the meaning of "buzz words" and can tell the author is using them as actual words with actual meaning behind them. Honestly, I would have called the the spirits "quantum mirage organisms" and then left my hypothesis at that. But then no one reading the book would have understood what I meant and this story would be drowning in "halfstar spiders".
Anyway, the story has a goofy but knowledgeable protagonist, whose relentless curiosity and actual use of his brain is refreshing. Beware

I’m not sure what I should say here. The story is intensely interesting, and the dialogue of the narrator with other characters, and with himself never gets boring.
The scenarios he encounters and the way he curiously dives into discovering cause and effect is quite entertaining. Especially when he’s totally wrong and he doesn’t find out until many many chapters later. That is the essence of Scientific inquiry.
Please note that I do use a Reader to listen to the story.  I’m not sure how different the experience would be for simply just reading the words versus having them read to you.

I quite like the concepts and world building, but the MC…. I want to simply open the protagonist's brain and see if he really has one.
Several times he asked me if he really was a scientist in his previous life or if he just knows some cool words and things.
He is an arrogant guy who puts advice in one ear and out the other that comes from a person more experienced than him.
He is impatient, he believes that things have to be done his way no matter what, something quite curious because in one way or another everything he does ends badly. Which is a shame because the story with another guy or without the MC would be a great story with a great world.

Honestly, it's really hard to follow anything in this novel. The mc just shoots out buzz words non-stop as if any of it means anything, while saying less than nothing and being obviously wrong, and then marks checks off such as
    Science 1, witchcraft 0.
even though he's clearly not making any real progress and is instead oggling shiny rocks like he's unlocking the secrets of the universe just because he can see them shine.
Also, the tools he ends up crafting make no sense when you stop to think about them for even half a second. Without any proper crafters tools to speak of, he's apparently crafting highly intricate and polished tools without anything actually needed on hand to do so.
When his teacher tells him point blank what he needs to do, he scoffs and behaves like he knows better, and then clearly goes on to do nothing of substance and fails repeatedly to succeed in doing anything worth reading about.
I don't recall exactly how old the MC was in his passed life before he died, but he's behaving as if he were a 12 year old in his passed life, or a spoiled rotten under educated teen.
I would not recommend reading this, it's headache inducing and goes nowhere fast.
I like the concepts, and the world building, it's all really cool, but falls flat on execution.

This had potential to be an interesting setting and premise, and the author clearly has some talent.
The plot thread where the MC is sacrificing martial ability/ strength to explore magic is immediately dropped as they hip shoot crossbows with superhuman speed for some reason.
Similar dissapearing food/water/shelter/being stuck in a location is quickly 'solved' with minimal effort.
The basic hypothesis/experiment stuff just isnt happening when the MC investigates stuff, skipping to assumptions then having them immediately prove true is lame AF.
The first main character introduced is a hot catgirl slaver who immediately gets enslaved so they cant say no (ick), and procedes to repeatedly tell the main character how special MC is and provide exposition that has already been shown in story, then reinforced by the MC, then is being said again.
Any conflict in story evaporates faster than the morning mist because the author doesn't want the MC to struggle- which isn't automatically bad for some story types but is 100% at odds with the opening premise and promises of the MC being in danger or whatever, while the cannibalism and slavery make it just not lighthearted fun.
Pass - author doesnt have a clear vision for the book or strong enough character voices to make that muddiness interesting.
