Lucien Vale.

He was the kind of man whose name bent reality. Billionaire by twenty-two, sovereign of a corporate empire that could topple governments by accident. Artists painted for him. Scientists groveled for funding. Dictators feared the weight of his smile.

But none of it meant anything anymore.

Pleasure had long since turned stale. Power no longer thrilled him. The world, in all its complexity, had become a sandbox he had mastered and abandoned.

So when the world's first fully immersive VRMMORPG, Throne of Eternity, opened its digital gates, Lucien didn’t just play. He devoured it.

Ten years passed in-game. Ten long years of blood, conquest, betrayal, and brilliance. While others specialized, Lucien mastered everything. Warrior. Mage. Assassin. Merchant. Alchemist. Architect. Every skill tree bent to his will, every hidden quest unearthed, every legendary title engraved with his name. The game’s community called him by many names: The Apex Sovereign, The Godless Monarch, The End of Ambitions.

And yet again, he stood alone at the top.

So when the developers announced the server’s shutdown, the world mourned—but Lucien merely smirked.

“Let it burn,” he whispered as the final countdown ticked down. “I’ve already taken everything.”

He stared into the horizon of his digital throne room, a towering citadel surrounded by mountains of loot and corpses of vanquished kings.

2... 1...

The screen should have faded to black.

Instead, a searing white light engulfed him—pure, silent, endless.

He felt something tear. Not data. Not pixels. But reality itself.

Then—darkness.

Not the comfortable dark of sleep. But the heavy, damp, blood-scented dark of a world untouched by mercy or logic.

Lucien opened his eyes.

He lay naked in a muddy clearing, rain falling from a crimson sky. Trees twisted like dying hands. In the distance, he heard howls—inhuman, hungry.

He stood, unafraid, his body already adapting. He could feel something… more. Not code. Not numbers. Something ancient and raw humming beneath his skin. Magic. Chi. This world’s essence.

And then he smiled for the first time in years.

“A new world?” he murmured. “Good. It’s about time I conquered one for real.”
