Been reading this story on the patreon, it lives up to the expectations set by his other works. Interesting premise, creative use of powers and interesting plot with good pacing.No system stuff in this one but you can still watch the MC wrestle with what is in front of him

I found and highly enjoyed the author’s “systems of the apocalypse” series on kindle, and so I looked here to see what else the author had written, and I’m so glad I did. This is great! Believable characters, interesting world building, and fun page-turner action. Highly recommended! Recent entries have changed the story up some, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

Main character has a power that, while not making him stupid overpowered, gives him quite a bit of advantages. Side characters, while having a little access to plot armour, are not immune to death, and the epilogue left me exhausted from the excitement yet still hungry for more. Overall I think it was a great book, definitely a good read.

This fiction is really superb, I binged all the chapters in less than a week and am hungry for more. I'm a sucker for Urban Fantasy and Soulmonger is one of the best of the genre. The magic system is just awesome, the concept of Soul Pulse is mind blowing for me. Moreover there is a lot of potential for the sequel, with potential other worlds to discover.
The grammar and style are perfect, nothing to complain about. It's an easy read and there's nothing to pull you out of the story, which is exactly what it should be.
The MC is smart, interesting, with mysterious origins, he had tragic loss, and responsibilities. Just as i like it. The secondary characters are very endearing too whether it's the "baby sitter", or the best friend, it's always a pleasure to see them appear in a chapter.
I saved the best for last: The story. Incantation rituals, demonic contracts, telepathic powers, magical items, ominous prophecies that have a real impact on the story. Not to mention the well-dosed use of modern technology. The tension is present at every moment. I can't wait to read the next releases.
The only problem is with the demons, bureaucracy everywhere. No i'm kidding, This is a must read!

I like the characters. Tom is a great protagonist. His powers are interesting, both the inborn ones and the learned ones, and how he develops both is very captivating.
I love Carol and Chris the unfortunate decent policeman. I even like the villains.
Setting is awesome. The Houses and their powers, and how they use their powers to ensure their authority, are very believable. Suspension of disbelief is easy, especially if you're a cynic.
Plot is awesome. Very intricate and very believable.
Altogether a great story, well worth reading.

This one is a really promising urban fantasy. Magic system is original, characters are 3 dimensional. Consequences of using magic in our world aren't ignored, which is my pet peeve with most urban fantasies. Potential mysteries are foreshadowed. I'm hooked. Hopefully the author will stick with this book for a while.

There isn't really any point with starting with an early stage work when Macronomicon has three 1000+ page novels. As you may know, Macronomicon has no track record of finishing stories (although some of his stories have complete arcs which are effectively books), and some die off relatively early. Others, however, last thousands of pages, and are amazingly fun reads. So it would be a bit silly to start with this one, although one full high quality arc is out and another is reportedly done so *hopefully* this one will become another of his 1000+ page stories.
As for the story? Well it *starts* out like a typical urban fantasy, but there is no "typical" for this author. The whacky magic systems, bizarre and humerous plots that are nonetheless loosely realistic given the convoluted worlds developed, characters that get highly powered over time and defeat their enemies through clever use of the magic systems, all the normal features are here. I'm already enjoying it a ton. I do not agree with the review that states that this is a typical urban fantasy and not Macronomicon-like enough, but in fairness to that reviewer, it does take a while for the full-out Macronomicon-style fun to emmerge.
What I really can't do for you is a full summary. Because Macronomicon is Macronomicon, and there is already a fair amount of convoluted weirdness baked in here.

Pro; non-OP MC. MC stumble upon his power, learn to use it...or more like trial n error to use it, which is fun to read.
MC got allies/friends which help him out of sticky situation, meaning he himself is not OP.

Cons;
Some allies n villains seems to be only for the 1st arc. A pity.
MC is supposed to be smart, an A student at school. But we rarely see his genius in the story. Perhaps him figuring out the magic is him being genius for the author.
All in all, its a very enjoyable read. A pity its hiatus....

This was a fun (and fairly quick) read, but darker than I expected. The first arc leaves some big questions unanswered, and it looks like it's just going to stop there -- apparently for good. The ending is somewhat confusing, and it's under-explained... probably it would be explained when/if the story continued (I guess?), but the big ending shouldn't need lots of post-story explanation; that's what foreshadowing is for.
Frequent spots of violence, gore, general crudity, and etc. appear throughout, and don't really pay their way. The characters are often somewhat variable in characterization over time, and too many of them die, only to be replaced with less interesting characters. I'd recommend reading some of this author's work, but I'd also recommend starting almost anywhere else -- this is his least polished and most confusing work, and doesn't really have anything too special to set it apart. The magic system is fairly fun to game, and there's some good progression elements, but even so it comes out to about three stars overall.
Towards the end especially, typops become quite common. I'm not rating down for them, so be warned, if such things bother you, this may be a two-star story.
