- sdavidcasortRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0While it's too early to see where this ends the characters are complex and distinct. and there are hints at a world waiting to be discovered.
The Main character seems fiesty and independant, but folds immediatly when confronted by the court, to the point of killing on command leaving several questions. do oathes force action or just enable punishment? what is the nobles power in comparison to the queen. what are the rights and duties of the courtly powers? Her home and friends are wonderfully fleshed out, but there are signs that she may be seperated from them.
her husband on the other hand is flat. I can't tell if he is just broken by long term oathes and a viscious monarch or in development. He seems to have a code, but I haven't seen enough to figure out what it is.
the queen is also somewhat lacking. obviously fickle but how strong is she? is it institutional or personal? is her nature because of a lack of amusment or a need to mantain an apearence of detachment
