Soul of the Warrior - Book 1 Stubbed (thru Ch 62)

Description
In a world where Classes, Stats, and Levels are the everyday norm, Reivyn has a secret.
He was unusually aware of his surroundings from an incredibly early age, and Skills and Stats were acquired easily. He was just the son of an ordinary village family, and nothing appeared out of the ordinary on the surface. But below the surface, dreams of another life help shape his mentality and growth. Why does he have some remembrance of a past life, and what is his purpose in this new one?
"Soul of the Warrior" is what I call a Semi-Isekai LitRPG. I say "semi," because Reivyn's past life is remembered like a dream, and very incomplete. It is still Isekai, though, as he remembers enough that it directly shapes his personality and his sense of self.
The System that governs the world of "Soul of the Warrior" is a combination of modified versions from Selkie's "Beneath the Dragoneye Moons" and Kosnik4's "Magic Smithing." I have changed enough of these Systems and combined them in a way that is unique that I'm mostly sure it's fine, but I still have requested permission to use these ideas. They have both graciously granted me permission.

- McBlasterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nice magic system, good mix of action/training/learning.
Three different path to take in life, either
martial - swordsman, rouge ect.
Caster - mage in all its forms
Lifestyle - weaver, farmer, cook.
Then combine them together when moving into a new tier
Slowish start but it allows the author to develop all the main characters. The parents have a back story and it comes out in due time.
Fully worth the read! - VeskoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's good. None of the characters just disappear out of nowhere, they are really likable and the MC is one of my favourites so far.
Although to me it seems to have mostly veered off from the whole "warrior" theme, even though that was one of my main reasons for reading, I still kept going till I caught up (even put aside the daily updates from my other reads).
The system seems pretty fleshed out and is one of the better ones seen overall. Not too much detail but plenty enough for people who like reading levels, stats and skills.
One of the things I liked was that it's not one of these only weak people at the beginning yet as the MC becomes stronger, it seems everyone in the world around them is stronger. In this story, there are weak and strong people everywhere and there are reasons about how that came to be. This might not seem like that important to people who are new to the genre, but anyone who reads system stories understands what I mean. Level 100 people are rare until the MC is close to 100, then suddenly they're everywhere! No reason why. None of that here!
Can't wait for more, especially on the twins! Some of my favourite characters! Hope they join more often soon! - Constantine99Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fantastic writing and characters, as well as a well thought out progression system and plot makes this one of the few stories I will be going back to in the future.
Cannot recommend this enough.

I need to reach minimum words required so i will be filling that space down here - EndersGamerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like it so far, love the inter-womb development, the way that the author explains certain system mechanics, and the characters themselves. I like that even though the MC is given OP stats for his age, he is thrown in situations that make him not an OP sneeze and your all dead character. Good job so far, I am enjoying it and lookforward to seeing where it goes.
- BubbaJoeBillyBobRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It was a very good work. I enjoyed the system, the system prompts, and explanations of what was happening with the system. The only downside is it looks like the author abandoned the story :*( I enjoyed the MC and their family as well. Reviews must be at least 50 words long.
- Zach GRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Only at chapter 24 now but this book is worth a read. Well written and thought out. Hope the author is able to continue it for awhile and that it does not get to dark. I would definitely suggest it to someone looking for a new book. Can't really tell you to much without spoilers but it kept me up hours longer then I meant to be up just to read more.
- AdiAdiAdiAdiRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5It's not the best series I've ever seen but it should definitely be way more popular than it is. It's slightly heavier on the war and military angle than I've seen from other litrpg/progression stories but that isn't really a big issue.
Pacing is mostly okay there's a desert bit that drags a bit longer than it should (IMO) but fort the most part engaging and fun - roadllamaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5EDIT: Chapters appear to be posting consistently again. No way to know if that will continue, but since it was one of my favorite stories, well, it’s worth pointing out. I’m not changing my original review, but wanted to be honest and say I was picking the story back up since as long as it’s being posted, I can’t really help myself.
Original review:
First, the bad. Mr. Möbius Strip said it all best a couple months ago when he pointed out that the setup is exploitative. The author will post once in a while here to keep the embers alive, while consistently keeping up over on Patreon. And be prepared to pay; it’ll be the cost of a full book each month because it’s obvious the hope is you’ll sub then forget.
For the good, I did love the story and mourn its loss. Anyone who wants to game the Patreon system and pay once in a while then cancel, don’t let me stop you; I just refuse to play that game. There were story threads I was very much looking forward to following along and see the conclusion.
It’s grammatically very clean, and I enjoy the writing style very much. The MC is a little bland, but I find that to be common in these OP MC stories so that’s not really a knock. Perhaps if I was on Patreon I’d find more depth? Not sure, sadly. I enjoy the humor, too.
If I had to pick one thing I disliked, it was that toward the end of felt that every chapter was a cliffhanger. I’ll admit that it’s possibly at least partially due to my saltiness overall, but the cliffhangers felt egregious. - xicsessRoyal Road★★★★ 4.025 chapters in which is about the full length of the series at review. My preference is for MC's that are stronger than average or most at their level/proficiency, this fits that so far.
I like it, it feels a little slow in the first couple chapters and there's quite a bit of slice of life in the beginning. But the story smells like adventure is around the corner. The character wants to get out there and do something, and he's got some advantages.
Once the main character (MC) gets into some martial bits, the story speeds up quite a bit. The combat is fun, the dialogue sometimes doesn't feel quite natural with the faily and other children.
It's a good story, and I'm having a lot of fun - it's not something I would normally rate 5 stars but the royal road reviews seem skilted to 3 stars is mostly terrible and 5 stars is good to amazing. I'd probably still give it 4 stars if I was being completely honest with the rating system with 5 being perfect, 3 avg, and 1 terrible.
I'm going to downgrade my review a bit, I've read quite a bit since then and while I haven't dropped the book the multiple full chapters that just talk about the tiers the world exist at and how bad ass his parents are is a bit offputting. If you cut out about 80% of the characters talking about how the world worked and let the characters experience how the world works with some tips from learned elders it would be so much more readable. I haven't given up yet but I've definitely been putting this on the back burner especially since it seems to be jumping into a magic academy type setting which is just truly unfortunate when I thought I'd be getting a bit of military coupled with adventuring in the first 50-60 chapters. Learning how all the magic works and how to build it up is not particularly interesting. Training montages, revelations, and action I'm all with you. - GAGQGRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Is there any updates on when the author will start posting? I checked the Patreon and he is still uploading so he hasn’t dropped it. The story is good but the lack of upload schedule affected the reading experience then he just stopped and never started uploading again even though the last post said the story would resume.
