- marisachristieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Finally something fresh and different that focuses on describing new science! This book is a mix of Fantasy, Digital Reality and Hard Science Fiction. I definitely recommend this read. These characters are incredibly developed. Sophie and her dad's relationship is a beautiful part of a book that is so steeped in science. The author manages to touch on the humanity as well as the science.
I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next with Sophie and hope for a followup! - thoustonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Where to begin?
This is simply the best thing I've seen.
It begins with two dudes sitting at a bar. They're talking.
It's a labor of love and true devotion.
There's something in it for everyone. And I mean EVERYONE.
Take a trip through science, through...my God. Just read.
And whoever coded this needs retraining. - NickelbomberRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story is a sleeper masterpiece and certainly deserves more views.
The story itself is about a young girl who's lived a traumatic lifestyle and just wants to live happily with her totally paralyzed father set in a universe far into the future where things just rarely work out well for her. The relations between the characters are well thought out and it's clear that the characters are working towards their own goals, which are often aligned with but different than Sophie's goals.
The quality of the writing is top notch with very few typos or misformed sentence structures and everything flows very smoothly while reading the story.
The setting is a very refreshing take on the futuristic sci-fi, with a healthy mix of hard science and fantasy elements that just seem to mix pretty great.
One tiny gripe I have is that the justification for the VR tournament that Sophie's father participates in felt a bit weak or maybe confusing to me, but ultimately it has negligible impact on the rest of the plot points so it's not a big deal .
I'm really looking forward to seeing how this story resolves and highly recommend people give it a shot and check out the first few chapters too see if they like it.
