- Lazy king 123Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I would highly recommend it. The concept isn’t anything that novel but the execution and wordbuilding are solid.
The Mc is lightly Gary Stu and everything so far goes well for him but then again with the advantages he has losing at this stage would be silly.
Important thing is that Mc knows how to divide the profits which makes the situation far more believable.
The story has quite a bit of politics - the struggle between competitors the legislative bodies of the Roman Republic and between competitors, between generals and senate …
so take a note of that if it is not your cup of tea.
also imho so far the relationship between characters don’t play that much of a role. But it is set up nicely for interesting dynamics with the Ceaser with Crassus and other Roman heavyweights. - AvidReaderOfFanficsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Highly recommend if you enjoy kingdom building (early stages for now) , tech uplift and trying to change the system of the roman republic and technology for the better .
Business also gets a lot of attention .
The potential for the story is very big and even now it is fullfilling a lot of it . - noguerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like it,
I am up to date for the story anther binging the first 20 chapters. I like the fact that our mc starts in a privileged position and does not have to claw his way from the relative bottom. The cheat is somewhat minor and acts as a nice explanation of his "fresh" knowledge. And while I am trying really hard to find faults and deus ex machinas in the plot every plot point has been ironclad, abusing Arabic numerals and the use of the 0 to facilitate math, obvious and revolutionary, double accounting doing hard work on the background, sure there is a reason is so universal in the current time, using modern proven marketing strategies duh, using paid labor over slaves, production bonuses, shares and stocks. Totally obvious and revolutionary ideas. I am more iffy on the insurance process as author did not really explained scammers, but with big margins, preventive measures and the firefighting force it can work out.
TL;DR: I am loving the novel for its solid logical and historical foundation (as far as I know, no expert by any metric) and the delightful character interactions and the witty humor. - RavyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really engaging what if story. I can‘t put it away at all.As a history teacher I am always both intrigued and cautious about such stories because I like reading them but if they get into unbelievable territory they also turn me away. This story manages to tread the line between being really engaging and believable from a historians perspective.
- Ice ManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A bit like a power leweling korean story in the regard that the MC will consistently get stronger in some aspect and bigger problems will scale, more allies more enemies, more power bigger problems.
But it's a feel good story, so far atleast. That is to say it's consistently getting better for the MC and the vibes are good.
AND ROMAN POLITICS! LOVE IT!
So yeah, worth the read. The whole book would probably go for a few sesterces when the time comes. - red_bullRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I think this story is captivating as it delievers exactly what it promises with a good execution. It is about a corporate worker who died from overexhaustion due to his work and gets reincarnated as the son of Julius Caeser. There, in Rome, he uses his modern knowledge to bring glory and reputation to his family name. This story is very accurate in portraying the real roman society and history, and it doesnt use many annoying "modern knowledge" genre tropes, and if it does, it does them good. The only minor nitpick I have, is that one can notice the translation/port into English, but I think that may be confirmation bias after reading the description more thoroughly.
- closedblindsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Picked up this story since it was trending in the Historical section of Royal Road, and it did not disappoint. I am extremely glad the author decided to translate this story to english from its original korean.
While other reviews and the genre itself may be construed as generic, I think this story does a great job of keeping things fresh in terms of style and story. I like the focus on business and politics, instead of warfare (so far?). A warfare arc may be needed to ramp up some plotlines or the overall stakes of the story.
The small beginnings of the businesses and politics are prime character development time, which I feel is adequate. I feel like there is a lot of potential here in terms of adding depth to supporting characters (Cordelia, Crassus, Pompey), and potentially the MC as he continues to develop his "found-family" with his reincarnated family.
Spelling is near-perfect, with one of the best Korean translations I have personally read. It definitely feels Korean in style, but it reads relatively well into English.
Overall, nice and easy read, and hope it continues! - ABirkRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Salve, Domine! Young Caesar is here to bring prosperity to the Eternal City!
I am absolutely adoring this story. The author has seems to have done his research on Rome. I am no Roman Expert, however none of the businesses he has started have been out of the realm of possibility for Rome to accomplish on its own, and his excuse for his knowledge is more justified than someone who just knows everything. There is quite a few big names thrown about here, and meeting them definitely entertaining to see.
My biggest complaint would be the fact the chapters are quite short, and the pacing can be a little fast in regards to the businesses. - Fantasy AddictRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A very good progression and City Building story. So far it has no magic, action or romance even, but despite that a rapid page turner. Very well written so far, keeps reader interested and invested in the MC, decent humor as well. Looking forward to see how this story goes.
- Elder_WisemanRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I love this concept! Its really interesting and a fun thought experiment. It really sounds like the author researched the history, put a lot of thought into what he wanted to change and incorporate and how that would affect the world around him.
Looking forward to how the story will continue and what will happen.
