Description
Max Best is back, but this time, he's exactly the same. Max's grinding is paying off. His football club's new stand is rising, his team tops the league, and his personal wealth is exploding. He even has his face on the cover of Soccer Supremo, the best-selling football management game. But just as things are finally going his way, he decides to risk it all by taking on a new challenge and a new enemy. There's no way it will work and no way he will get away with it... and that's just the way he likes it. "When the beautiful game turns ugly, Max Best is there to give it a haircut." This is book 15 in the Player Manager series but new readers can start here. New chapters: Monday and Friday.

- Brandon DeeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reading about the adventures of Max Best is always the highlight of my week. The writing is clever, the characters are interesting and every match feels exciting. The main character loves to mess with people and uses unorthodox tactics, but he’s very intelligent and works hard to improve his team on and off the pitch. I like that all of the characters get a chance to shine.
Even if you’re not a huge fan of football, everything is explained in such a way that you’ll have no trouble following what’s happening. Not only is the series exciting and hilarious, it also has some moments that really hit you emotionally. One of my favorite things about this story is that the author often chooses a theme for each chapter like a movie or prehistoric creatures and center everything around that theme in a way that feels satisfying even if you weren’t sure where he was going with it in the beginning.
The system in this story lets Max unlock information about football players and control the formations of his team like he’s playing the game Soccer Supremo. He earns XP by watching or playing in matches and use it to unlock new abilities. I like how straightforward it is.
I haven’t noticed any grammatical issues.
In my opinion, this is the most underrated story on Royal Road. - CakeOrrDeathRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sequel to one of the best series on royal road, a must read for progression fantasy fans.If you play football manager and usually start with championship or premier league level teams start here. If you play “park to prem” then go and read the prequel first.Fans of Ryan Reynolds, gammon, FIFA and Saudi Finance groups should look else where.
- CookingsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ted continues to boss it in this second installment of Player Manager, aptly renamed Soccer Supremo to reflect Max Best's rising stature. The characters act in line with their principles, the grammar remains excellent, and the football only get more exciting.Go back and read the first installment if you haven't yet. Otherwise, enjoy the continuation!
- DgiseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So much fun to read, and the story has just gotten better as it has gone on. A must read for lit rpg fans and sports fans. Check out the audio books on Amazon too - very well done. Twelve extra word to meet the minimum seems like a dumb requirement.
- Gregory SeppiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Author Ted Steel provides a master class in why characterization, dialogue, and conflict will always matter more than setting and world-building— not that he skimps on those either. I can imagine a potential reader thinking “football/soccer? How can that be interesting?” Think of the most epic sports movie you’ve ever seen, then cross it with classic litrpg tropes. The author provides plenty of context and explanations for soccer (football) plays so that readers totally unfamiliar with the game don’t get lost. Soccer Supremo, the follow-up/continuation of Football Manager, expands Max Best’s world and conflicts with the powers-that-be to showcase a world where choices matter, consequences are real (for good and bad), and kindness has costs. You’ll laugh, cry, and stay up all night reading it. Plus Max is just a dick sometimes.
- James WhiteRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I haven't left reviews on anything else I have read, because I always want to give them 4.5 stars but I don't want to lower their average. I don't have that issue this time. The series is not actually flawless, but the fact that I have read 18 books in the last few months and still want more says a lot.The good ratings on this lit rpg on the lit rpg website says all you need to know about the quality of the power scaling, and pace. It's really really goodThe thing that really stands out to me is the ability to actually hit some comedy beats in a written conversation. These characters are actually funnyAlso, I have to mention that this book uses a gimic that makes me think of sit-coms like Psych or Community, where they reference some famous movie or TV show, and then throughout that episode/chapter they hit some story beats from the thing they are referencing while telling a continuous story throughout the book/show. The author pulls it off and it is beautiful. Finally the few grievances I do have:The characters are very black and white on whether their goals align with max. 90% of characters agree with max on every major issue, while the other 10% hate Max and conspire against him constantly. There are a few exceptions for actual neutral parties, but they are side characters who rarely show up and there aren't many of them. namely the reporter (who I am not naming for minor spoiler reasons) and old Nick. The last thing is realism, most of the story is actually very good about this, but there are some things Max will do that simply would not work (especially if the UEFA hates him as much as implied) and even if they did once, the loophole would be filled within a year. All in all, this story is fantastic please read it, you may have to pay for the first couple books of played manager, I binged through them on my Kindle free trial. But having read them I would say they are worth the money too.
- MeetRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Maximum Best of everything, continued. Do yourself a favour and read Player Manager and then continue to read (like you have to be to, if you actually do end up reading Player Manager) this amazing continuation of a story so epic that it encompasses everything from meta character awareness of existential crises to How to hope for the future and do it 101.
Oh yeah, it’s also about a guy with a system who gets better at using the system, etc. - Mr. IbisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0LitRPG esque numbers going up? Check
Smarmy main character who isn't infallible? Check
Brilliant writing about a niche subject that requires little subject knowledge? Super check
Aww yis, Best is back!
Long time reader of this series, and excited for the new one going forwards. Can't wait for even more, and boy can Ted deliver. - NorthSeaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Came following the old book. It's a good football litrpg. I don't think I read another sports litrpg? And that alone made me give it a chance. And yeah it was good.
Is it 50 words yet? It isn't :). Well I got 8.5 in reading/listening & 6.5 in speaking/writing in IELTS. - BigBoJanglesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Carrying on Fri. Player manager and it's as addictive as ever. One of the very few things I can read as each chapter can come out without feeling I need to wait for more to stock up.
There are so.many characters that I've come to love and many more I look forward to the return of.
