Description

CJ was happy to keep being a struggling stage magician working the small rooms at local casinos. Until one day he was accosted by some goons looking to collect for a local Loan Shark. In the ensuing scuffle, his phone was broken. That was bad enough, but then the world actually ended.

A galaxy spanning wave of blue mana swept across the planet. Everyone with a phone, tablet or monitor became entranced by a blue screen. This brought about the rise of Slates, mystical screens in everyone's heads that allowed access to levels and powers beyond imagination as well as monstrosities from the darkest pits. Everyone without a screen didn't have access and would need to rely on others.

Now CJ will have to use every trick he knows to survive in a world he spent his whole life dreaming of. He’ll have a little help from his very own floppy eared friend and an Old God returning home from an eons long journey.

Between gangsters and sabre-toothed chihuahuas, can CJ pull survival out of his hat in this LITRPG adventure?

When I first followed this story I was manly interested because of the cover. There aren't a lot of LitRPG with a black lead ( I think I've read exactly one other and that was fun until it got a bit weird with some American military propaganda). To be honest his race doesn't even play a large role in the story, he could have easily been another white brown or blond hair protagonist but that's fine I don't read these types of stories for deep sociopolitical critique. As an apocalypse litrpg story it is very fun. I like the characters, the powers and the classes. It isn't stat heavy and so far there isn't a part of the story that feel like a slog to get through. The pacing fits my preference, we aren't spending like 10+ chapters in the dungeons. If you like post apocalyptic litrpg stuff give it a read =)
