Description
What happens when you take everything away from an NPC? You will leave her with nothing but vengeance.
Lucy Longsilver lives in a virtual world of Skull and Fangs Online as an NPC bartender at the Backwash Tavern. She dreams of becoming a pirate like the players, but the system never allows her to step out of her role. Without warning, a ruthless pirate player attacks her town and leaves no survivors. After losing her home and purpose, the player leaves Lucy with nothing except vengeance. When she mysteriously receives the ability to level up and receive new skills, Lucy realizes she has the power to avenge her town. But to avenge her town, Lucy must build her own crew of pirates and tame a ship. On their adventure, they will hunt the murderhobo player as they fight monsters, loot treasure, and discover unknown places. Being a computer player might be fun, but the stakes are still high.
Author's Note:
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
I am writing this series for NaNoWriMo this month, up to 55,555. Each chapter will go up between 1,000 to 2,000 words and will be posted each day during the week. There might be multiple chapters posted to keep up with the writing marathon in the afternoon. After this month, I hope to get this novel self-published, maybe next year. If you enjoyed my other furry litrpg, Sword and Claw, you might enjoy this one.
I decided to change the book cover since the other one turned a few people away, So I grew a dog skull and crossbones to match the title instead.
The original title was Skulls and Crossbones, but I changed it to Skull and Fangs because there is going to be a game called Skull and Bones. I don't want anyone to think I stole the title. If you find the original title in the draft, don't be confused.

- SpudTreeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a good story, short and sweet but not the most consistent.
I love the author's creative style, it was descriptive enough for me to envision this story while I read without descriptive filler and stayed consistent throughout the book. Their grammar is also great, I can't recal reading any typos or questionably unlegible sentences outside of clearly intended dialogue. That being said, some of the characters speak in broken accents that border incomprehensiblity, dyslexic reader have my condolences.
Throughout the story I have a hard time making out the skill of characters or difficulty of challenges. In one chapter a character may be strong and talented but then in another they're just average; the same goes for plot points, what is described as an impossible challenge turns out to have a simple trick or is underwhelmingly easy for the characters to beat.
The characters are unique and easy to like. The author was very good at giving me a clear mental image of who they are and what defines them while tying them into the story.
My only big complaint is that the ending felt rushed and dependent on plot armor, which kind of makes all the buildup feel hollow.
Overall worth the read!
