- nugito_bambinoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an awesome satire. It takes a ridiculous premise of a crab becoming sentient and gaining access to the [system] and then plays it kinda straight. You have the tropes of the chosen one, progression story, and coming of age.
But the main character is a crab.
The writing is witty and in several places laugh-out-loud funny. I highly recommend reading all the author's excerpts at the bottom, when available. The characters are humorous and have solid depth.
I greatly look forward to more from this story and this author. - QuintuscusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just an amazing and funny fiction. I've been a big fan of monster/non-human progression LitRPG since ELLC and this scratched an itch I've had for a while now.
Thank you author for the read up until now and I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Double appreciation should be made as this author is new to writing. - SlenderbrineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Best crab fiction I've read in a while. Very charming, funny, and crab-related. Love spontaneous sentience and the troubles that typically follow it. Nothing like getting thrown into the deep end, even if you can swim. Crabby, Luna, and Todd are excellent characters and I can't wait for Book 2. 10/10 would crab again

Oh, and also there's a cute and wholesome story about a newly sentient crab who discovers the mysteries of the universe and goes on adventurese and junk. Y'know, if you're into that. - ZeroEnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Before I get into detail on why I think Sir Crabby is a literary masterpiece. I have to say. If you like litrpg, if you like progression fantasy at all, if you like genre self aware jokes, or really bad (in a good way) Crabby puns. Then this novel is a MUST READ!!!
The story has a common setup with litrpgs, MC who is new to the system and begins his adventures from there. Tried and true formula.
What makes Sir Crabby better though? The story has enough seriousness to give the events that occur weight, polished over with a delightfully genre self aware light heartedness and puns.
Sir Crabby is chock full of fun references, jokes aimed at genre tropes and just general goofiness. The system implementation and the overall lore so far is actually really interesting.
I'm suddenly struggling to write this review in an eloquent detailed manner. I had all these thoughts but I sit down to write it and I can't say anything lol.
Genuinely, Sir Crabby, is fun, it's lighthearted, it's got crab jokes that make you groan at how silly they are, and laugh at the same time. The characters so far are dynamic and interesting. Also I mean come on, the MC is a sentient CRAB. THERE ARE CRAB GODS. It doesn't get any better then this.
Absolutely positively give Sir Crabby a try. It hooked me in the first 3 chapters.
If not for me, then do it for Sir Crabby McCrabbington Lord of The Coast. It's the least his position deserves. - krenthicRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Enjoying the story. I like the idea. Easy to understand. My only suggestion, more fights its a little conversation heavy at the moment. I am guessing you will be fleshing that out. Its still early in the story. Looking forward to some crabby knight action.
The world seems to be epic and i enjoy the Gods interactions. Looking forward to what can happen. Even with the few chapters you have. - luda305Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Aspects damn it.
This sounds so dumb. Like a punk ass kid deciding to take their "favorite" parts of a bunch of LitRPG and trying something "novel." Puh-lease, I know how this is going to go.
...reading...
Why is this so freaking good?!
At base, the story is one of an innocent, random crab that is exceptionally lucky and gets both sapience and System access. He wants to live (which is important given he faces death regularly) and meet back up with his princess friend from the first chapter. You just want to root for the guy. It's sweet, it's endearing...
It's also freaking hilarious. Part of it is the characters, which are really well done. A large part of it is the excess of inside jokes and satire about LitRPG, isekai, and webnovels generally without being overbearing. And, the author does a really good job with word choice (for instance, swapping out crab-appropriate words or mannerisms because, well, he's a crab).
On a technical scale, it's really well executed. The author's done a brilliant job worldbuilding, outlining the story and characters, and then conveying that to us as readers. It's easy reading. The grammar is flawless.
https://youtu.be/wvfR3XLXPvw - milkman7121Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a good story. Lighthearted, not so much a structured plot as a goal and some unrelated things in the way, but it's easily carried by quality of the characters - joke concepts given depth and conflict.
I had a good time. Oh, and All Glory to the Hypnofrog. - 1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0TL;DR : Good LitRPG with a unique premise and beginning. Fast paced mayhem and a fun narrative combine to make a very enjoyable story, despite a few minor issues.
Style : Frantic and humorous, the tone of this story is far different from most books I read. So far, it has been refreshing to read a narrative that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Story : The plot has been an absolute rollercoaster so far, and its apparent chaotic whim resonates with the hurried pace. I do think that the amount of things happening near-simultaneously could use some slight trimming, it got pretty difficult to keep track of at points.
Grammer : Exceptionally good, there were no problems I noticed with technical formatting, syntax, or errors.
Character : I feel that there was a remarkable amount of effort put in to make the main character's thoughts and actions reasonable and understandable, and it shows. However, I think that side characters could use a bit more complexity, they seem bland at times.
Overall : Unless you are completely opposed to a book's main character lacking agency at the beginning, I reccomend giving this story a try. The setup arc is done quite cleverly, and endeared the main character to me. - Bluelightning42Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story my dear friends. Is simply FUN.
Settle down and I'll tell you a tale of a brave crustation on a journey to become the ultimate kaiju and snap the world in two with his oversized claws.
In all honesty, The Grammar is fine - there are no obvious problems and while some of the wording/style is over the top in an unrealistic way it's also a comedy and I find myself not caring much.
I'm going to pause the review for a moment to talk about how this story uses alot of tropes I dislike and somehow makes them palatable. The biggest of these "offenders" is that I usually hate the interference of gods in my litrpg's and dislike when they give the MC the time of day...but because of the comedy and the way everything is written I find myself liking it in this one specific case. I usually don't like excessive references but maybe because of what is being referenced or how well it's incorporated, I find myself smiling when I see it this time around. This isn't really something to help show if you'll like the story but it's personally a big part of my overall enjoyment and thus the way my review is presented.
Beyond that the Story and Character scores are good but not noteworthy. Solid averages that don't draw you in as strongly as some...but aren't negative in a way that distracts from how fun the series is to read. They simply exist and if I could review without including them I would.
The biggest draw of this story (besides the unique non human shape if not perspective) is its comedy. It's not consistent but it's certainly varied if that makes sense - from darker beats to situational or reference based and parody jokes. Most of them arn't enough to laugh out loud personally... but all are enough to have fun while reading this which is honestly all you really need. Why wouldn't you read a story that's fun? That makes you smile at how absurd the situation is.
Going into this I'd recommend seeing if the comedy is for you. Not if you'll laugh out loud at the jokes but if
