Description

WARNING: THIS STORY HAS A SLOW START. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We all grew up hearing stories about heroes and villains, but what would we do if we were to be part of one? One night, a bioweapon escaped from its laboratory in Zalcien, only to die in a dark alley. One night, a young man lent a helping hand, only to die alone in the dark. One night, a deity of death saw two lost souls and offered one a second chance in the other's body. Now a strange creature made of darkness, James has to deal with his new form in a strange new world where superpowers, heroes and villains are commonplace, far away from his home. Watch as he learns how to use his powers, as he meets allies and enemies and how, when facing the paths of heroism and villainy, he chooses a third way somewhere in between. Follow the story of James, a lost Earthling soul, as he becomes Silhouette, the mysterious power in the shadows. Cover by TheWinterer. Greetings fellow humans. This is my first story on Royal Road and my first long-term project written in English, so I do hope you will have some mercy in your heart when reading. So, as you may have understood, this is a story with super-heroes - which is quite ironic for my first story considering all of the other ones planned are fantasy - and as such will take place in a modern-like setting. Despite dark themes and gory scenes making their way into the story, it is still a super-hero world with the logic that matches, so expect characters to survive nuclear explosions without a scratch and yet to get defeated by a rubber ducky - as well as similar dark humor, thus the comedy part.

I expected this to be some anti-hero vigilante story instead of a black shadow ooze thing starting a company with his rat children, but it was great. While I wouldn't say MC is very interesting his interactions with other characters are. I do wish he could get to interact with more superheroes and trainees, but, oh well. If you like slice of life(ish) slowburn, this is a great one to look at!

Keep it up. I'm enjoying this a lot. The author claims to be learning English but I've read something from English speakers with more typos and mistakes.
Great work. Looking forward to reading more.

I love Silhoutte for the ways in which it dragged me in and held me in place. This story may earn a place in my heart next to my favorites I feel like its almost there but its to early to tell.
The story is slow paced and actively expands the world in a drip feed manner with the occasional info dump. While at points this almost felt like it was dragging or slow I think this approach has played to the stories strengths. I'm finding myself more and more invested with every chapter and do wonder what the future holds for our MC and his found family.

James, now a creature of darkness named Silhouette, must navigate a world of superpowers far from home. This compelling narrative explores his struggle to master his new powers, form alliances, face enemies, and find a path between heroism and villainy. 'Silhouette' is a captivating story of transformation, survival, and the complex shades of morality."

Hi, I don’t review many things, however it has been a month and no one has reviewed this fiction yet so I may as well.
Silhouette is the story of a pizza delivery boy who gets isekai'd into a modernized fantasy world with superheroes and villains, as an escaped lab experiment.
Characters: Its early yet, however the main character has been written well. He shows the cautiousness that his situation demands, while also being a good person. While he does not seem to have any character traits that could get him in trouble, this is less of a problem and more just something I like to see in characters.
Story: Well, I was not sure where this story was headed, however with the most recent chapter it seems to have picked a direction and I am interested.
Style: There are a few character perspectives swaps, however given that these characters both give interesting perspectives about the world, and seem like characters the MC will one day interact with I’m happy with them.
Grammar, I am not one for the topic of grammar, but I have not noticed anything to take note of.
All in all this is a cool story and I look forward to where it goes.

Silhouette is more of a grower than a shower, a rarity for this site. I’ve been reading this story for about 2 years now and my opinion of it has only improved over time. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of stories I still follow from 2 years ago, which should speak to my belief in the quality of this story. There isn’t much I can say here that hasn’t been said in other reviews, other than the fact that the arc the story is currently in is my favorite of the whole story so far. The author hasn’t slipped in characterization or worldbuilding a single time in the nearly 200 chapters that I’ve read. I’m struggling to find anything negative to say, beyond the fact that it being a slow story by nature might turn some people off (it’s slow in the same way Beware of Chicken is slow. It’s meticulous). Give this one a try if you haven’t already! This story makes for a great binge

What can I say about Silhouette?
Starts off rather slow, BUT it's worth it.
Style: 3rd Person, very descriptive as in "can write a picture descriptive,  author sets pace nicely & adjusts it dependant on what the story requires.
Story: Hits every tag it shows & a fair amount of others. This tale is set in a world that the author brought to life through words, the stench of the sewers with their stained & mossy bricks, the despair of the slums, etc, it's a sprawling canvas & I'm looking forward to seeing the Union, Black City, Slum Centre, & many more.
Story hit multiple notes both refreshing & saddening & hits em well.
Grammar: English is not the author first language (I believe they said), so the half point drop on Grammar is due to little mistakes made in the phrasing, honestly minor stuff like some words used out of context. No glaring errors to speak of. Heck just suggest improvements to any odd phrasing & it's 5 star.
    Characters: 5 STARS!
    EVERYONE OF EM!
Real folks, fun folks, stupid folks, redemption, attempts for better, slight breakdowns & some of the most adorable lil kids ever!
Defo a 5 star for the characters, all interesting & all fun, even the silly ones.
If there is one thing to take from this...
    Horrible review but fantastic story!!!

I enjoyed binge reading the story and want to read more.
The characters are interesting and the world looks colorful. Can barely wait to experience more of it.
It is a bit short atm, but very promising with a good foundation and all the room to grow in every direction our dear Author wants it to.
So to them, keep it up. And to other readers, read it. ^^

It's a pretty good story over the normal stuff that I read did slow at the front. But that's already stated, though, the reason why it's slow on the front of the story is because of the rat children. He's raising and which well we don't really see that much later
But other than that, everything's pretty good 👍
