Description
Forcefully taken into a new world Alphonse is met with a new opportunity to become strong. A strange alien mothership, soldiers forcing them to learn how to kill. Forced to go on quests to different planets where survival is anything but guaranteed.
This is Alphonse's quest to survive, eat, and evolve.
A fast paced story telling the tales of Alphonse on his Glutenous journey as a soldier slave of the Great Migrators. Watch him devour monsters for their forms, reaping them of their delicious stat points. All while a terrifying plot simmers beneath his feet.
Silence the Hunger is dark in nature, much like Alphonse's fighting style. Sensitive topics are brought up with a hint of tragedy, you've been warned.

- S.N. KeirsteadRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The story is written in a solid third person perspective. The narrator is able to give us a glimpse into the mind of the protagonist (Alphonse) while still giving the reader a picture of the environment and characters he interacts with.
Grammar: Noticed no punction or grammatical errors during my time reading. Although there were headers by the author indicating that there were fixes, so those who stay up-to-date and like to read chapters as they come out might notice something.
Story: The story is dark. As the title implies and cover imply, there is a lot of eating and a bit of gore to go along with it. The main character can get stronger by eating, so the actions and descriptions match the core premise of the story. There are numbers present throughout the writing, but from what I've read they don't seem to be as in depth as other stories on this site, so it might appeal to those that prefer less crunching.
Characters: The characters are straightforward and serve their role in the story well. Alphonse does his job as a protagonist; through his perspective we're able to get a slow understanding of the world and other characters. As for the supporting cast, they help to establish this futuristic fantasy world in a natural manner, slowly giving reader more information on the system as well as lore.
The cover and title convey the content of the story well. If you go in expecting a darker kind of story with light RPG elements, then this is the story for you. - LordmilesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am liking the novel so far.
Grammar -good i think. I am not a native speaker
Characters-rightnow the MC is too mental inestable and there are a lot of deaths and reality wrapping events so i do not have a fully formed vision. It looks like he was severely abussed as a kid and .. we will see where we end.
Story- neat, the concept is not new but i has not been used for a long time in royalroad. The authour can exploit the situation and make an OP character but he is taking his time to try to build him but....basically
He get new skills and point be eating and he eats all - R L GreyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Silence the Hunger is a fresh take on the Lit-RPG genre, where humanity, or at least part of it, become the invaders that we usually see in other Lit-RPG novels.
The style is quite spontaneous, with events happening that drive the story forwards but with short build ups between each Mini event. Overall though, the story follows a nice progression from one location to another with growth, both character and strength, along the way.
The story is great, a Berserk of Gluttony style character thrust into the position of Cannon fodder for an inter galactic army. The fights are unique, being more nitty gritty since the Mac's teeth become his best weapon, and the hidden agenda of The Seven is hinted at and beginning to be slowly revealed.
There's not much to say about the grammar. I can't spot any mistakes when I read and any that do pop up will probably be quickly corrected as the author is very active among the comments.
If I was reviewing this before the new chapters were added, I would give the characters 3.5 stars, purely for Alphonse being the edgy badass with a knack for troublemaking that he is. However, the author has taken on board the criticism given to him by his readers and turned what were once side characters into a true supporting cast.
Overall, I look forwards to seeing the author continue to find their writing style and hone their craft. Definitely pick up Silence the Hunger if you need that Lit-RPG kick. - CKJ5Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Full disclosure, this review comes from a review swap with the author, and it is my first review on RR, so here we go.
Story 5/5: Silence the Hunger is a portal LitRPG set in a fantasy/sci-fi world. It is not a genre I typically read, but I am glad I read this one. The overall story is interesting, and right off the bat, Silence the Hunger introduces us to strange fantasy/sci-fi that has its own fleshed-out history and structure before the MC gets there. As the MC is learning the ropes, we discover, as he does, what powers he possesses, and in my opinion, they are unique.
Style 4.5/5: As I said before, I do not take to the litRPG genre that well, mostly because I don't enjoy looking at stat sheets, and it is not a knock on the genre. It is just my hangup. With that said, Silence the Hunger does a great job of giving stat information that is important to the character development. My only small knocks were some of the formatting decisions. Again, this could be just my lack of experience with the genre. The other knock was the overuse of adverbs. This sometimes happens in the chapters that feature lots of character conversation. I could have put this knock in the grammar section, but seeing that the usage of the adverbs was not grammatically incorrect, I felt it was a preference of mine as the reader.
Grammar 5/5: I think I saw one typo, but all in all, nothing stood out, and nothing derailed my reading enjoyment.
Character 5/5: I liked the MC. There were a few times when I thought he was a bit over the top, and I could not figure out why. But considering his situation, who am I to say he wouldn't act the way he would? I also really enjoyed his sidekicks and felt their bond up to this point in the story.
Overall 5/5: I am glad I read it and will read more in the future. - swhaty321Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0i love how your showing the mental instability of the mc and using it as part of the story and his abilities contributing and stemming from his mental instability and trama. the story is a litle on the dark side but i would recomend it to anyone that enjoys graphic descriptions and well thought out characters
- DreameroftheUnknownRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, it's not exactly entirely litRPG because it does say litRPG-lite, but regardless, it is a very different take and I enjoy that a lot! It is grimdark, though not to the point where it becomes angtsy.
Style: The paragraphs are just the right length; neither too long or too short. The only suggestion I could give is mayhaps the slightest bit more description, but that hardly deters from the story. The dialogue is good, the action scenes are well shown, and overall, it just flows well.
Story: This is the part where the webnovel truly shines, because it's such a unique take. The system itself is a surpise, with each person having their own unique ability and I loev the fact that the main character's ability is literally "eating well." I also enjoy the setting, because unlike other litRPG stories, this one feels more in a sci-fi setting with harsher rules and a more militaristic feeling. This is a great story, with plot twists and turns.
Grammar: Nothing much to say here other than good job. Punctuation is where it's supposed to be, the words that are meant to be capitalized are capitalized, it stays in the same tense.
Character: The main character is much more of an anti-here than anything; he's rough, dark, willing to get down and dirty. He's also much more agressive than a lot of other MCs I've read, but the thing that I like is that he's not arrogant. He has a loud personality, but the author also made sure to give him depth underneath all that.
Overall: 5/5, I can see why it's so popular. It's a page turner for sure! - YohaoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Dude I'm definitely satisfied with the conclusion for this first volume ! Some stuff I did expect but much of it came as really welcome surprises !
You managed to develop some characters but others need some more exposure to be able to grow and next volume probably will give them the chance.
The story is really interesting and intriguing, I'm really looking up to get more details about the whole plot !
The start need some editing tho, there was some confusion with names that I'm not sure were corrected. The addition of some more chapters was really welcome as it gave more depth to the world.
Thanks for writing ! - Brainballer12Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far this everything I've wanted but never could create. Unique powers basically one of kind for MC.
It's early on so who knows what might happen but the cover has my expectations on edge.
He seems kinda like glutos orscolion. If you knows who that is ✊️. Hahaha hahaha - wiserthanthouRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5When I read that this was the authors first attempt at writing a story, I honestly tempered my expectations a bit. It kind of comes with being new at something that things can be... less than perfect. But I'm happy to report that this is one hell of a first story.
Story: I'll admit, in the early chapters you can feel the inexperience. Things are a little rushed and I feel like some of the things it tries to be mysterious come across as a bit under developed. As I read though I noticed that the author filled in a time skip with a bunch of new chapters and the jump in quality in them was tremendous. Any negative point I talk about in the rest of the review was almost completely fixed in the new chapters. The pacing evened out and I became extremely invested in the world and wanting to find out the history that they seem forbidden from learning about.
Grammar: There are occasional hiccups, mostly in spelling. But nothing too major that took me out of it and nothing that confused me.
Characters: This is another of the stories really strong areas. The side characters of the main group, oh man, I LOVE their interactions. They are a joy to read, they play off each other really well and have great banter. They are also quickly becoming a close unit and it's going to be difficult if the author starts killing them off. I'm excited but scared to see where things go from here haha.
However, I did have some problems with the main character in the early chapters. It seemed like the author was trying too hard to make him mysterious and maybe a little cold and uncaring? At first I thought he was a bit sociopathic. But as things went on, he showed more depth and it seems like maybe he just has a bad past and is trying to treat his new friends in a different way than how he did on Earth. The first few chapters just need to line up better with where he seems to be developing now and he will be perfect.
Style: Like I've said in the previous sections, the early chapters are where things - BullerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5bit gross, bit filled with gore, and a general bit of bits around. Grammar? Could use some work at times but overall pretty above average for the site. Style? Yes. Brings along some quick action while making sure that the world is actually explored. I feel the MC could use some time toe evolve their personality but that could have just been saved for later in the story. For now, I'm giving this a solid 4.5/5
