- DecimvsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Haven't read the entire story yet, but if the first three chapters are any indication of the quality of this story, I definitely recommend it. Loving the whole A.I. perspective since it's pretty unique and quite fun to read. Besides that, haven't found any grammatical errors or anything of the sort.
- Tenno TurianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Haven't finished it yet but I am close to eating up every chapter that is currently out so far. Seen a lot of SIs in my time and lately it's getting hard to find a 'good' one that catches my interest and I am happy to say that this one caught mine! Really liking the direction of this story and I am eager to read more!
- VegetablesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Its been a very entertaining read so far, definitely worth a peruse at the very least. Probably my favourite fan fic on here, aside from maybe Overkill (though very different from this story).
Grammar is top notch, with very very few issues, just a couple I noticed in about 30 chapters.
If I absolutely had to complain about anything, the weakest part would probably be some of the side views from other characters such as Kaynor, but that is likely because it hasn't fully tied back into the story with the MC yet. - A.N.S.N.ARoyal Road★★★★ 4.0interesting. I hope the AI reach humans soon. I find the story simple to fallow and I think thats a good thing. The AI can start shell companies on Earth and try to uplift the humans. The only problem is the update speed. If you can update faster, it would be better.
- foboschRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I am late, but I still feel like this book deserves a rating.
It is not a good story, but it is interesting WHY it failed (imo). The premise is interesting: A human becomes a sentient AI and replaces the Geth. He avoids the outbreak of the civil war by trying to act normal. This should make an interesting story. But here, it fails.
1) The story lacks a motive. What is it? Is it state-building with hard sci-fi? Is it a human struggling to preserve humanity as an AI? Is it a quirky romance where the AI tries to get hot alien babes for some unprotected file-sharing? All of those can work, maybe even a combination. But I don't know what this story is supposed to be.
2) The pacing. It starts ~300 years before canon. That is ok, but you need to make some time skips to get to the point. In all 27 chapters, we probably cover half a year.
3) The style: repeated information and philosophy. This can be a great tool to get people to think, to get into some more complex topics. But it needs to be framed with actual plot and character development. Something needs to happen. Otherwise it gets repetitive and dull. Which is what happens here.
4) Side characters. All stories need them. The MC alone gets boring over time. But the reader should have a reason why they should care. Likable, hateable, or funny, and in some way relevant. But here, I found myself rooting for the reapers to send a assassination squad to kill all of them, so that we can go back to the story.
In short, if you want to write something similar, I advise to read it, if just to see how NOT to do things.
EDIT: It seems like the autor has learned a lot, if I look at his later works. Definitely worth checking out if you like Pokemon SI - KennyboiRoyal Road★★ 2.0Too much writing, show not tell. MC having a existential crisis every chapter gets boring quick.
Hella boring of a story progression currently, litterally says it will be 3 centuries until significant things actually happen. Yet it talks about things on a month to month basis, even whole chapters about a single day/scene. It's just too slow. - ListorelRoyal Road★ 0.5This work has 3 shortcomings in my opinion: 1) The hero has no personal concerns, everything comes easy. He does not take his life seriously, so why would the reader must have this attitude? 2) He does not live in the world himself, he lives in a fantasy about the canon. Some things do not look credible, but imaginary. 3) The author literally replaced all the Geth with one hero. And I can't say that it was worth it. According to the history of Mass Effect, the conflict between synthetics and organics is inevitable. And the hero goes and immediately destroys this truth. Thinking all about the galaxy, its inhabitants, threats to them, but not about himself, because he is a carefree AI (who is too human and has problems with logic)
