Description
You know, most people who have an accident and get to meet God aren't likely to be ready for the experience. Even more so when that God just happens to be Arceus itself. Of course a Pokémon fan is going to leap at the opportunity to have a second chance in a new, exciting world with fantastic wildlife to encounter. Still, when dealing with a Pokémon, even Arceus, it's important to bear in mind that there might be some miscommunication in what you request and what you receive.
This is going to be a novel about a main character who finds themselves brought to the world of Pokémon as a Ditto. How will they cope with being a Pokémon themselves in a world of battling and capture? How will they react with humans, be they friendly trainers or villainous teams? They must build an identity while becoming a Pokémon who specializes in imitation of others.

- Astral CrystalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The style is good and it's easy to understand what's happening, although in some fight scenes it can get a little confusing.
Story: The story is great, it starts off mostly cozy slice of life stuff at a farm as mc gets used to his situation and it all super comfy and cute. As the story progresses he gets into more shenanigans and begins to uncover the mysterious schemes and plots happening around him and perhaps even related to him, it's very interesting so far while still having lots of time for the usual cute Pokemon shenanigans. I do wonder what the future of the story holds since the mc questions whether he should stay on the ranch or explore the world and both options seem very appealing, I don't know which I'd prefer and I wonder if the author thinks something similar, if only they could get a portable ranch somehow. I also think the mc should experiment more with his transformation powers, he only seems to think of new uses when it's most convenient. And for example in one part he turns into a Pokemon but his nose is purple yet on future transformations he never experiments with small changes like that. All around the story is great and I can't wait to see how it progresses.
Grammar: The grammar is great I don't remember seeing any errors.
Character: The characters are great. The Pokemon are charming, cute and all have their own traits and quirks I love them. The human mc interacts with is also very charming and likeable, she's great as well and has a deeper backstory than I excepted. The mc is great too, he's very likeable although he seems to have some difficulty deciding what he want to do in the future and does second guess himself and the world a lot. Although he does have a bunch of character development so he's always getting better and hopefully in the future he's able to decide what he wants to do with his life. In a way the mc fits the title of the story perfectly, he not only changes and grows in character becoming a better version of himsel - Atomic CalmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.010/10 would recommend to anyone who is at all interested in what life would be like if you were reincarnated a ditto.
The only thing I could see disappointing a reader is if they were expecting a ton of battles - instead this has infrequent (but meaningful) battles while training and enjoying the ditto life in between. Battles are getting more frequent as time goes on though!
Style - Very fluid storytelling. Honestly I was hooked from the start and kept going until I ran out of chapters. Even with less battles than most action stories, the world is crafted so wonderfully it is truly a delight no matter what is happening. The world is very realistic and thought-out but not grimdark (so far).
Story - Incredibly original. There is still a threat that the MC encounters occasionally, but there is plenty of time in between to train and enjoy life as a ditto- and life as a ditto sure is enjoyable... to the readers at least!
Grammar - Perfect. Sentence structure is so natural you don't notice it. The author already fixed the few typos I noticed even before I caught up to the last chapter.
Character - The characters are everything you could hope for. As a pokemon, most of his interactions are with other pokemon, and every (friendly) pokemon has a unique and fun personality. There is also a good degree of human interaction too and that perspective is really entertaining. - Cloud WalkerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The novel is entertaining with all the mess the MC gets himself
It's also out of the ordinary with the being a Pokemon instead of a trainer. But that is just another part of its entertaining nature.
Also the MC does a lot of training and communicating with other Pokemon - LightBlueAndGoldenBrownRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm sad that the author appears to have disappeared. I was really enjoying the story as it was coming out. Please come back RustyPike! I require more pokefics for my great devouring maw. In more serious review terms, Shifting Perfection is just a really fun pokefic with a whacky opening premise. If you like other Pokémon protagonist works, or even the Pokémon interludes of fics like BOC and IWTTS, give this one a try!
- LiteraryWhoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There's suddenly so many of them!
Some of my favorite parts of the popular poke-fics out there are the "pokemon perspective" scenes, and this whole story is just kind of one long one of those.
I honestly wouldn't mind the lazy adventures of ditto on the farm, but seeing him take his first steps into becoming a proper adventurer is also really cool.
The different poke-personalities (poke-nalities, if you will) are really fun, so I hope we'll get plenty more of that in the future. - MrZaiekRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The novel feels fresh and easy to read with a novel idea in the form of the MC circumstances, i love the way he reacts to the world around him and how he discover his newfound abilities and learns to use his new body, the characters fell real and have motivations in concordance to the world they live in.
I like the take on the Pokémon world while not overly rooted in reality it's feel like a more grounded world in comparation of the one in the games and can't wait to see how it develops from here. - PunpopeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel takes readers on a unique journey as the main character navigates life as a Pokémon, facing battles, capture, and encounters with both friendly trainers and villainous teams. The story brilliantly explores themes of identity and adaptation in a world where imitation is key, promising an exciting and imaginative adventure for all readers."
- Strictly WorseRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story really leverages the flexibility and benefits of the MC being a ditto while not shying away from the disadvantages. A lot of the characters feel well fleshed out and distinct. The story is taking its time which I enjoy, but I appreciate won't be what everyone is looking for. While the foundation for the plot has been well set up, at this stage it's impossible to say how well it will pay off. Definitely one to check out if you like pokemon or stories with a non-human lead.
- lakeanonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Very fun and chill Slice of Life right now. The author is going to need to put in work to make a journey seem as appealing as The Adventures of Ditto and Pidgey currently is.
Very charming story, although the pace is pretty slow right now. I'll probably amend this once it's longer, but I very much enjoy what's going on right now. A welcome breath of fresh air.
