The bunker initiative was first created and implemented to protect people from a nuclear fallout. The rapid installation of fallout shelters formed across the country to preserve civilization. Now, months after the bombs dropped, those same beacons of hope and safety have turned into false promises and chaos.

Eighteen-year-old Dax navigates what’s left of the country in search of his identical twin Jace, who in the midst of chaos, disappeared. Accompanied by Mateo, a fast-talking, loose-lipped, lost soul, their adventures take them West toward Yellowstone, which becomes their new hope for the future. On their journey they meet myriad travelers, but only one who joins them on their quest. Jamila is a bright light in a world of darkness that is all-consuming.

As the trio make their way through the treacherous frontier, Dax must reexamine what is most important to him in this new world.
