Description
Kai used to be a talented cultivator. Can he rise again in a world of magic?
Kai always dreamed of raising his small sect into an imperial powerhouse. Looks? Brains? Patience? He had all the tools to keep his rowdy juniors in line. Kai was confident that his small beast-hunting sect would rise to the top.
He hadn't counted on being shunted off into a new world.
Everything seemed different – mana instead of qi, an apocalyptic world ruined by a beast tide, and even his annoying junior's voice in his head, chattering on about 'levels.'
Humans aren’t even the top species around, not here. There are powerful beasts in every direction, and Kai isn’t strong enough to beat them and establish his sect’s legacy… yet.

- Purple KhaosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far, it's been great.
[Edit: Chapter 11]
The story has really just started. Bits of fun mysteries have been sprinkled through the past chapters. For instance; I really love Helia. She has a story beneath that fun facade, and I'm sure it would be a goddamn enjoyable story.
The Time Travelling aspect is another good mystery that is yet to be uncovered.
This novel has great potential - SkarabraeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The story's style is very good. The author's way of writing is unique and helps convey the story's tone. I can also safely say that the author's word choice aids the tone very well too, and the literary device of imagery is used incredibly well. So, the style is good.
Story: The story itself is very good too. It's paced at exactly the right rate and develops exactly at the pace it needs to. The story itself is essentially an isekai but with a twist. Someone goes from an Asian-style Cultivation fantasy world to a Western-style fantasy world. That alone is very interesting, and seeing how the characters react to the differences and similarities with the worlds is interesting as well. The story does a good job of keeping your attention, and there are a few very interesting twists too.
Grammar: The grammar is very good. Any grammatical errors are either too minor to notice or have already been fixed.
Character: The characters are very good. Both main and side characters are well-depicted, realistic, and fairly three-dimensional. The core of the story is the character development between the main character and another member of the sect. He is very annoyed by her, but the two are thrust into a situation where they have to work together. That makes for an interesting character dynamic. And the interactions between other characters are good too.
Overall, I highly recommend this story. - TheGreatPotatoManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I liked the book. I read the earlier draft some ways back and it caught my interest. Our main character gets pheonixed into an untimely demise and does as phoenixes do and revives into a world of magic. I am a fan of the premise and the chapters I read was rather good. I suggest you read the chapters yourself and see if ya like it.
- V.J.DaranRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story starts off in the middle of a phoenix attack, thrusting us right into action from the get go, before transporting the MC to another world, again in the middle of monster attacks. The action is interesting, and the writing style makes it easy to read, understand, and follow. The workings of the world is also slowly introduced as the MC tries to fight his way to safety, avoiding any info dumps on the reader. As a bonus, the occasional snarky comments by Halia adding to the MC's frustrations at not understanding what's going on, introduces a good deal of humour to the life or death struggles the mc finds himself in, which makes the scenes even more enjoyable.
Overall, I think this is a well written story that approaches the genre with a good blend of humour and seriousness, that makes for a very fun and enjoyable read.
Grammar: I couldn't spot any errors so if there are any, it's not going to detract you from your reading. The author has clearly spent a lot of time with editing :)
Style: full points from me! Love the descriptions, the characters, the story, the humour and everything!
Character: So far so good, the characters are written well as well. Though I haven't read a lot of character development yet, it is likely to happen as the story progresses, so you can expect relatable and entertaining characters as well.
Story: Quite interesting so far, at least to me. A cultivator finding himself in another world that uses completely different cultivation mechanics, after barely surviving a phoenix attack? What's there not to like about that lol - TzekibaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is my first time reviewing something here but I’ve always been a fan of cultivation stories, magic, isekai, etc. It seems pretty novel to try and combine these settings, it’ll be interesting to see how it will turn out and if the author can handle it well.
Your journey with great interest, I will watch. - Drake_EURoyal Road★★★ 3.0The title „Cultivation Mage“ lead me to a false conclusion, that it would be a story about a cultivator who begins to cultivate mana. That and the fact that he’s sort of a brainless young master type are my main negative points.
Positive is,
that the grammar is good.
The author seems to know, what he wants to tell to the reader, so no slow spots for the moment.
The litRpg system needs some development, maybe that will come later on, for now it’s decent.
Conclusion (for me):
Due to my first two points, I won’t follow the story, because i‘m a little disappointed that it didn’t fulfill my expectations. But if you want a survival litRpg with magic elements and some possible civilization building in the future, you should read it.
For the author, maybe you should change the title to avoid that misunderstanding or make it clear in the advance notice.
