So far, this book has captivated me with its vivid writing style and inventive use of literary devices that introduce some of the chapters or become the theme of that chapter. There is something... "old soul" about it... if that makes any sense. The action sequences are thrilling, and the magic system is intriguing. I'm excited to delve deeper and write a more comprehensive review once I've caught up with the current chapters. But so far this has been an unexpected treat.

Shade is definitely one of those stories that you can't stop reading once you start. I'm not usually into writing reviews, but this book made me want to share how good it is. The way the author writes is super detailed and makes you feel like you're right there in the action.
The grammar is on point, at least for me, but who am I to judge grammar... I didn't find any mistakes or anything confusing about it, which is really nice because it makes the story flow smoothly without any hiccups. The story itself is really interesting and keeps you wanting to know what's going to happen next.
But the best part about this story has to be the characters. Musa, the main character, and even the side characters are all really well-developed... so far anyways. In fact, right off the back, there is even a misdirect to who the MC might actually be. JB made even the side characters feel like they could be a MC in their own story, which is pretty cool. It's like the author gives us little hints about their pasts without spelling everything out, making the characters feel more alive and relatable.
Overall, Shade is a great read with a story that keeps you engaged, characters that you get attached to, and writing that pulls you into their world. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for something new to dive into!

Man, I very much appreciate the story, characters, setting, but I would like to ask, like what is up, with the biblical names, for example, Isaac, Zachariah, it would be super cool, if you explained later on for instance, explaining how Earth is the home planet of all humans, when they started to explore space, a catastophre occured wiping out most Internet, so all they had some books, and being preoccupied in solving the crisis before starting to print out more religious books, therefore, from that point onward, many lost all knowledge about religion, but the names stayed, of course, this is just an idea, if you don't like don't use it, but you could use it as plot twist, or I dunno, maybe you can simply re-write the names, like you did with King Isaac, and you could change it a little bit, say, perhaps, Isaax, which sounds practically the same but it different, anyways if you've read until here, I'm sorry I made you read this, oh, forgot to add, do love the Dune-ish universe, which is really, compatible with the 40k, which makes for nutritous and whole reading (; and I love the way you present the way of presenting the chapter, like, the leaf, etc. etc. Which gives it a interesting twist, the MC does not seem too OP so you've handled it with a very careful touch, which makes me want to swallow the book without chewing, the pace is beatifully appropiate, and the release time is perfect, overall one of the best books I have ever read, and even more so from a "rookie"... thanks for sharing this beauty! As for why I don't say what it is about, I don't want tos spoil it for you, also I've rationed this absolute GEM of a novel...

Full disclosure, I know the author, but that does not stop me from being honest with this review. I have to start off by saying SHADE: The Passing truly is a great read, and one deserving some attention. I recently had the opportunity to delve into a fascinating story and even read much of what is to come, and I must say, I was quite impressed. The main character, Musa, is intriguing and well-developed, earning a solid 4.5 stars from me. His unique abilities and complex backstory truly bring the narrative to life. The style of the story is vivid and immersive, though at times slightly over-descriptive, meriting 4 stars. In terms of grammar, it's mostly well-executed with a few minor hiccups, deserving 4 stars. The story itself is compelling, blending fantasy, action, and intrigue in a way that keeps you engaged, warranting 4.5 stars. Overall, I'd rate this story at 4.5 stars. It creates a rich, captivating world with a strong plot and a compelling protagonist. With a bit of polishing in style and grammar, this story has the potential to be truly exceptional.
As I mentioned in the title, I think SHADE is a true gem of a story that with time and a little polish will truly shine.
