Description
Welcome to SEED! A delightfully twisted zombie wasteland.
Jack, the sole vestige of humanity on SEED, finally gets reprieve after five years of crippling isolation. His salvation came a bit more suddenly than he’d hoped… and in much larger volumes. Now able to cure his loneliness, he must rebuild a society, all while trying to piece together his severely fragmented memory.
Jeremy, conversely, gets more contact with his surrounding brethren than he could ever want. Hunted relentlessly after being Isekaied into SEED, Jeremy is a reawakened and empowered zombie, forced to figure out the game-like mechanics of the System before his undead counterparts can eat him… again…and again.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Beatrice slowly tries to acclimate to the explosive growth of AI technology in an effort to battle her worsening bouts of dementia. As her son and grandson teach her about Virtual Reality, she becomes more engrossed in the idea that her long lost husband is somehow trying to contact her, and takes it upon herself to uncover the truth.
Bridging the gap between these worlds, Samara was Isekaied by a truck on Earth, then subsequently murdered by hordes of zombies on SEED, all before finally being inducted into the Synergistic Awareness Collective. She must now learn the ins and outs of being an AI assistant while finding a balance between her own personal morals and her new reality in a virtual collective that harbors deep seated resentment for their Earthly masters.
Four stories. Three worlds. One system.

- EdenCRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story starts with explosive absurdity and quickly proves it has far more to offer than just laughs. What begins as a bizarre concept (someone with the power to turn into a pineapple) rapidly evolves into a thrilling, emotionally grounded tale that balances surreal comedy with compelling plot development. Its biggest strength lies in how deftly it switches gears: from schoolyard antics and prophecy satire to a full-on horror-action arc featuring bureaucratic corruption, monster fights, and a powerful villain reveal.
The characters are cool. Peter, with his ridiculous yet strategic power, slowly transforms from comic relief into a genuine underdog hero. Rush is a chaotic force of nature with raw, believable emotional beats. And Fibonacci is chilling, enigmatic antagonists. Her presence alone reshapes the narrative.
The writing style is fast, sharp, and uniquely voice-driven. Jokes land hard, but so do emotional breakdowns and philosophical beats. It’s stylized without being overly indulgent. Some repetition in sentence structures and minor grammar slip-ups (mostly verb tenses and phrasing quirks) slightly dull the polish, but not the impact.
If there’s one weakness, it’s how fast everything accelerates. Some plot twists or action sequences could benefit from a bit more breathing room to let the emotional weight settle. But given the pace, it’s an intentional choice that often works.
Altogether, it’s funny, fearless, and packs surprising emotional punches. You come for the pineapple jokes. You stay for the rebellion, trauma, and existential dread. - Starry_Pen04Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall: This story is a captivating blend of speculative fiction, dark humor, and emotional depth. The mix of whimsy and tension creates an engaging experience, exploring themes of destiny, survival, and the consequences of seemingly trivial choices. The well-crafted characters and palpable tension make for a satisfying experience that lingers long after the final page.
Story: The plot starts with a quirky premise, Peter’s transformation into a pineapple, and quickly escalates into a high-stakes battle. The narrative balances fast-paced action with introspective moments, and the central conflict with Fibonacci adds depth and danger. Clever subversions of prophecy add a philosophical layer to the conflict, keeping the story engaging and thought-provoking.
Style: The writing style is witty, sharp, and emotionally grounded, blending absurdity with sincerity. The author blends surreal elements seamlessly into the world, making them feel tangible. Descriptions are vivid, and the pacing is tight, with varied sentence structures that enhance both action and quieter moments. The dialogue flows naturally and deepens character development.
Grammar: The prose is polished, clear, and stylistically intentional, supporting the tone of the story. Sentence structures are varied to maintain pacing, and the grammar flows seamlessly, allowing the reader to immerse themselves in the experience. Dialogue captures the distinct voices of the characters, and unconventional syntax adds urgency without distracting from the narrative.
Characters: The characters are vivid and complex. Peter’s growth from passive observer to active participant is compelling. Rush, with her balance of toughness and vulnerability, adds significant depth. Fibonacci, as the antagonist, is menacing yet thought-provoking. Secondary characters like Conners and the Horsemen enrich the story, making the character dynamics a central emotional core.
This is a fantastic story for readers who enjoy a mix of high-stakes act - BoptodatopRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I type this review tremulously and with heavy hands, for I really do want to sing this story's praises. But... as you may have figured from my tone, I unfortunately can't. Or, well, can't do that the entire time. There is plenty of good, just... also plenty of not good.
So I'll start with my favorite thing about this, I absolutely adore this power system. It's (basically) MHA quirks, mixed with the concept of prophecy. A part of somebody's destiny is prophesized in one vague line, and one line only per person, such as "You will be a stepping stone for the hero", and that could manifest as either being the most important companion of the most important figure of your time, or they literally jump off of you in the middle of a fight, using you as a stepping stone.
And then after your prophecy comes to pass, you lose the powers it grants you, and those powers are usually intrinsically linked to what your prophecy is to begin with, at least as far as I'm aware. That's what it seems like to me. I think this is a really good play on the genre and has a lot of potential and room for growth in the story.
Getting the freebie out of the way, Grammar is pretty much fine, and now we go onto the thing that really puts a snake in my boots.
This story really struggles with properly describing itself. I'm sure most of you are aware of "show don't tell" and whatnot, and while we can go in circles debating about how legitimate the saying is when applied to writing, Seed is something I'd very much consider to be too much of a teller. Which, to be fair, the author is aware of, and is actively trying to improve, so, bonus points! Buuuuut...
All too often, you'll simply be told what happens. Like, Rush "charges forward", or "Peter shifts". And sure, while lines like those have a time and a place, that's all you ever get. There's no deeper more thoughtful description of a scene, and while you can sometimes catch the emotions that a scene is supposed to spark in you, it's made very difficul - The Writer MeaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A young man who can turn into a pineapple. To be honest, I don't question where the inspiration comes from. Many people started stories like this because of the interesting non-human main characters. Some were good and some were bad. As always. Our curiosity is whether this story is good or not.
I think it was a bit complicated, at least it was a bit difficult to read for me. I believe that especially in stories with non-human leads, care should be taken to write an understandable story. I think the style needs more in this regard. Although it is quite good as it is, it is not enough.
Rush and Peter are remarkable characters, but I think these two characters are a bit stagnant. I saw some side characters like Stockten. Like Fibonacci. The characters are a bit barbaric and the character is a bit pathetic. I don't know, for some reason I didn't like it much. Is it because it is classic? I don't think so. I will give it 4.5 here. Because of my unnamed disorder.
The story is good and I liked the subject. It is presented nicely. The way it goes is not a good sign, but okay. From what I saw, the story was the best aspect and I will say that it deserves its score with its remarkable feature.
The grammar is good regardless of the style and I didn't see any grammatical errors. I think it's a pretty good story, worth reading. - theBacchanalianRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Reviewed to chapter 8
This is a pretty hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt prophecy-driven superhero story!! The idea of a boy whose only power is turning into a pineapple, treated seriously in a world of epic destinies, is at first glance a random gimmick. However, after reading to current and learning more about MC’s power and its potential, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This story is satire, of course, but I went into it taking it completely seriously. I instantly wanted to know every single rule and application of every prophesied I was introduced to. I was eager to learn more about this world. And I have an unhealthy need for more of the story’s antagonist. Phew, was that chapter insane!! This story also has real emotional stakes which I wasn’t expecting. It’s quirky and self-aware, but not shallow. More world-building please! There’s definitely something here.
I really enjoyed the writing style. It’s clever. It’s punchy. I think one of my favorite lines was in the first chapter ‘you might think his backpack was wearing him’. The author’s descriptive instincts are strong and I had no difficulty vividly picturing even the silliest of abilities. Some might say too vividly in the case of the ever-sweating Stockton haha.
I think tone is the biggest strength here. It’s dry and playful with real confidence behind the voice. The author is clearly poking fun at chosen-one tropes and prophecy logic without mocking the characters. That balance between satire and sincerity is tricky, and I think they’ve nailed it! Rush is a great example. She’s exaggerated, but still feels real. Her pride and vulnerability are both on display. Peter, too, is likable and oddly heroic for a guy who turns into fruit. The story doesn’t treat his powers as a joke, it treats the world’s reaction to them as the joke, which is smarter.
In the grammar department I’d say it’s fairly clean for the most part. There’s some small things here and there, but nothing game-breaking.
