The MC is an obnoxious self-serving asshole, but at least he tries. He's confident, great in bed, and has a great body kept with a strict exercise routine. In his previous timeline, most everything he did was a seemingly sociopath's spectra of relieving his boredom. In this timeline, he's returned to before he changed his bottom line in depravity, and somehow he manages to keep his bottom line this time around, approaching his boredom relief with exploring honesty and respect. His background and motivations for everything he does (outside of his romantic relationships) are largely still a mystery, slowly being showed. The harem approach is making sense from his self-serving perspective and from his youngest partner's inexperienced perspective, but in reality his oldest partner wouldn't give him or his bullshit harem a minute of her time. For the story though, it makes it interesting and hints at further mysteries that may or may not be explored in the future.
All in all, I find the story to be one of the most interesting and unique on RR, the flaws of the MC are absolutely part of that, and though I think he's an ass I can respect his attempts at being a better person and doing right by his interests. I'm also really curious about all these mysteries that haven't been answered yet, I'm really enjoying the slow pace in showing them.

This story describes the life of an adrenaline junky, the kind always looking out for the next scam, fight or girl.
His life slows down as he gets old and more powerful so he takes the quick way out of a boring life only to wake up with a hangover.
It's a little unpolished but that may be just that style of writing matching the MC slipping in to his old habits as a younger man.
An old man's knowledge in a young man's body is napalm on wildflowers, he knows just where his hindsight will get him.
It's a story of lusts and no apologies so no buyers remorse allowed.
Taking the hard road is the MC's bag so I expect some unpleasant happenings at some point.

Wanting to believe that he can change despite not believing it fully, the main character regrets his past decisions and makes a series of choices to change his present.
Wake up in the past story with no LITRPG elements.
