- Chiba TadayoshiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the moment I finished the prologue, I was hooked, I love me some mystery and riddle filled stories a well though start with a taste of what's to come, this shows the confidence its writter has with this story and this is immediatelly transferred to us as readers.
CHARACTERS
I'll try to keep my review on the characters as general as possible or this is gonna be a long and spoiler filled review.
Starting off the 1st chapter we meet our 1st protagonist, yes first as in, more than one, more on that later, our dear radio killer, Faith, our serious protagonist, who is shown at 1st to have that think-first-act-later kind of personality on him, but then we are shown he is hillariously more complex than just that, AND I LOVE THAT, someone who is clearly affected by his emotions and acts accordingly to them clearly not perfect but all the same more lovable because of that, just as he may rush head 1st into enemy base, he is also shown to be rational when someone he cares for and his own life for that matter are in danger, what would you do if you had a loaded shotgun aimed to your face, would you just gary stu your way out of it, or be paralized with fear and consider your options throughtfully?... be honest now.
All in all, while following Faith with are shown an array of characters that join him, not caring wether he likes it or not, all of which do not just carry a supportive background role, as each character clearly shows importance to the whole story and each one of them could be their own protagonist, with really good paced character development and funny shennanigans to look more into their personalities and development, however one of these stand out more than the others and its none other than our brash dangerous blondie Wish!, which as the story presents her, is our 2nd protagonist! yes someone that will give us another view to the whole story, as a mirror to Faith, wish is our all out act-first-think-later kind of protagonist! or so you are shown at 1st, some - lunaticbirbRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Scarlet Finale! manages to get you hooked within the very first paragraphs of chapter 1, before you know it, you will find yourself having your heart stolen as if it were a Phantom Thief.
The magic in this story lies in the magnificent way the author presents her cast and sets the stage for the mysteries of Glint City.
The narrative allows the reader to picture the different scenarios well, whether it's a battle scene or a comedy one, you'll be guided by the authors' light yet beautiful prose and won't find yourself confused in any way ( aside from the mystery factor, of course, have fun picking the little clues the author might leave there ).
One thing to highlight is the use of dual protagonists; Wish and Faith, each with their own faction. It is a very enjoyable experience to see how they relate to the rest of the cast and the interactions between them, it gives it color. I certainly appreciate how Stella takes the time to shine light on each of them, even if some might seem to have little appearances on the first volume, be sure that she will eventually come back to them.
As for the fantasy / supernatural element, you will have to experience that for yourself, I can only say that the powers are really interesting, seeing how everything clashes during battles is exciting and the cliffhangers shall leave you flipping your chair.
If you are a fan of stories with good lore, big cast dynamics and character development, look no further, Scarlet Finale! will definitely blow your wig and you will find yourself enraptured in this adventure. - msbluerainyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Innovative prose, flexed out characters, multiple perspectives– Scarlet Finale! is must read.
As the novel starts you find yourself - along with Faith, one of the protagonists- in a world that's wrapped around in tension and suspense. As the plot in the first part moves silently and quickly between scenes, the mystery starts to become evident, such as smoke filling a room. Quite discreet, and using simple yet emotional and sensory loaded phrases, Stella Procella gives you the chance to "choose your hero", as this story does center around its dual-protagonists characteristic.
One element to highlight is the author's use of supernatural elements and how they appear to the protagonists. Although intricate and well thought, it's a system that's easily to follow and it gets you hooked, as it won't provide easy answers and it might give you a palpable rush.
While the prologue and intermissions might be confusing at first glance, once the readers finish the respective sections they'll understand that they must read this work again. This work is filled with details and metaphors that will be appreciated when read once more, as the change of POVS and use of third person help tying this premise quite nicely.
Small hints or beautifully arrange paragraphs, always for a reason, the author uses all the elements smartly: almost as a puzzle, figures and illusions that will unveil theirselves when the time is right. Regardless of this, this novel isn't one to frustrate you; it invites you to solve the mystery along the characters.
Lastly, one of the strongest points of this work it's the characters. Vibrant, full of life, all of them have different dimensions that the author explores in a multitude of subtle ways. Despite the obstacle that a big cast would signify, the author works around it by creating fully flexed out, strong and diverse characters– there's a balance between comedy and tension that helps to develop all the actors involved in this adventure.
