- RudePriestRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An original take on a dungeon apocalypse setting. I really like the main character development arc. And, some of the supporting characters are empatheticly engaging (Avery and Evan are super). In fact, I would suggest to the author having spin off story arcs for each of them.
Villains are suitably evil. The general build of tension is well paced, too.
I look forward to each new chapter release. - SakageRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TL:DR: Pretty fun story, Zane go Smash, then Slash, then Big Bonk Smash. OP hero gets more OP. 9/10 would recommend.
Characters are overall fairly simple, some breadth and width, but they follow some pretty specific tropes and dont stray too far.
The fight scenes are well laid out and are truly the meat and potatoes of the story. Pacing is really good. No real filler to speak of and the story just goes from one plot line to the next.
Ad Astra drops hints and little nuggets of info from the wider universe throughout the story which is finally starting to play out more in the patreon releases. Should make for an interesting expansion to the scope of the story.
Honestly if you like DoTF, you will like this. Checks all the same boxes, maybe a little simpler in its execution, but there's nothing wrong with that.
Spelling/grammar is overall pretty good. Some occasional mistakes, weird grammar, but nothing that can't be fixed by a good few edit passes.
These words are being added to pad the length of the review. I have said what i wanted to say and have no more to say, please let me hit 200 words, i don't have any more critiques to give. - 33ZEAV33Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0As stated in the title, Savage Awakening is one of my two favorite stories. it is tied with the other one (Primal Hunter by Zogarth)
Grammar
I have a hard time finding grammatical errors in the story and I am a native English speaker
Style
I love the style and i will easily get sucked into the book and completely lose track of time (when I have multiple chapters available to read)
Character
I really like how single-minded, strong-willed, and determined Zane is
Story
I love how he just goes on doing all this stuff and continually getting stronger and more overpowered
Description Matchiness (how much it matches the description)
it matches the description quite well. If I could add something to the description I would add: "OP MC" (that means that the Main Character Is Overpowered) or Overpowered to More Overpowered
For Your Information (this stuff is a bit unrelated and you can skip it if you want)
Be aware that I typically read somewhere between 3-6 hours A DAY so I go through a Whole Lot Of Books. also I am technically at chapter 346 rather than 326 cause I got the book. This is my first time reviewing a book. - EclepticRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just pure fun. The story took some time to find its way, but now it is just honest simple fun.
thanks for the story! I need 50 words to give this this the five stars it deserves. So I will just keep typing until I’ve hit it. Thank you much. - CirCRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's just fights. They're really well done, to this author's credit. It's a fast paced series, with the downtime between fights being brief. There's some witty dialogue, though the characterization has yet to really happen. Thus far it's very tropey. The MC is a savant and an imbecile at the same time. There world building thus far has set the stage for the MC to remain a battle maniac all the way to the peak. The magic/dao/system hybrid is pretty well done and allows for a diverse array of powers. If you like fights, this the series for you. If you don't move on, you won't really find much more here.
- Mouse7Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I mean what I said on the tin. While the beginning is weighed down by introduction, it quickly moves to more promising material. A unique twist on everything it does.
1. The pacing. The story both slows down and moves faster after the beginning. Zane starts having more to do between fights. But most of the story will be taking place in dungeons. Time is better explained to the reader as chronological order becomes more important.
2. The characters. The original roster is nothing to write home about. Zane starts this way, but slowly develops into a protagonist fun to read about. The supporting caste grows more diverse over time.
3. The combat. Strength is a reason for combat to become more strategic. What I said there can be applied to less books then you would hope. Zane will start just punching things, he ends doing that in a more engaging manner. Cheep level up heals grow less common as people grow in strength, and each level is rewarding.
4. Sexual content. Fade to black. But it must be addressed. It does exist, it becomes more relevant as the story progresses. - JethroHRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am, so far, loving this book. I definitely think it could be the next Defiance of The Fall if the author can keep up the writing ( I hope you do btw)
The system is pretty standard and the characters seem well-written but rather shallow, these sorts of things are usually ironed out in the first 100 chapters as far as I know.
Best wishes to the author and I recommend giving this a read if you're a fan of the brutal level grinding - ArsenTheDragonbornRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I just finished a major binge of books 1 and 2. I can say for certain that it has been a while since I have truly gone through a binge like this and that was when I first started reading here on royal road and started reading Tunnel Rat. I think I finished all of the chapters at that time somewhere around 200 chapters and I went through them in about a week or two with classes and studying being the main reason I didn’t read it all in a single sitting. So for a story now to bring that same level of excitement and eagerness to read that next chapter and be dying for more I thank you for reminding me of why I love to read. Thank you. 5 Stars all day.

All he likes to do is be Reina's boyfriend, grow stronger and smash things. he is an amazing and hilarious character that just doesn't know when to stop. This book is amazing and I would highly recommend.
- Shades98Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0So I found this story late. I would recommend anybody who finds it before or if they can read it on Kindle do so. Its a great story of a true berserker who grows into a real boy by the end of book 1. Sorry, if you read the book you'll understand how he was half a person at the first of the book and then only really alive at certain times and then after getting skills it led him to be more rounded ... yet still a berserker.
This is a well written story and when the finishing edits are done this will turn into a diamond in the rough just like our MC.
