Description

From James A. Hunter, author of Viridian Gate Online and War God's Mantle! Check out my first attempt at a Dungeon litRPG Novel!

Roark von Graf—hedge mage and lesser noble of Traisbin—is one of only a handful of Freedom fighters left, and he knows the Resistance’s days are numbered. Unless they do something drastic …

But when a daring plan to unseat the Tyrant King goes awry, Roark finds himself on the run through an interdimensional portal, which strands him in a very unexpected location: an ultra-immersive, fantasy video game called Hearthworld. He can’t log out, his magic is on the fritz, and worst of all, he’s not even human. Now, he’s a low-class, run-of-the-mil Dungeon monster. Some disgusting, blue-skinned creature called aTroll. At least there’s one small silver lining—Roark managed the grab a powerful magic artifact on his way through the portal, and with it he might just be able to save the world after all.

Unless, of course, the Tyrant King gets to him first …Hey everyone, so as most of you know, I write books for a living, and I just put this title up on Amazon (and enrolled it in KU). Because KU requires exclusivity as part of their terms of service, I have had to pull the majority of the content from this site. I left the full novel up for as long as possible, so I hope everyone got a chance to read it. If you haven't had a chance to read it in its entirety (sorry!) you can pick it up on Amazon. Thanks again for coming on this journey with me, and I so hope you enjoyed it. The book will be out on Tuesday July 24th.Best,

James Hunter

seriously if you like litrpg and a clever smartass protagonist  the you’ll love this especially if you enjoy monster protagonists and badass evolutions. That’s to say nothing of the character depth all in all I highly rate this story and suggest you give it a read. It’s worth your time.

There is something ironic about him becoming a troll in this new world he’s dropped himself into and then making a hobby of grieving being troll. Lots of interesting vocabulary when it comes to fencing, blacksmithing, and tailoring. Food humor abounds and the “gather followers” power/cheat he finds himself with doesn’t seem overpowered and there are a half dozen character sheets spread among the chapters. Looking forward to book two.

Taking the weary "I'm a freethinking dungeon Mob"- trope and breathing new life into it Hunter has constructed a compelling first installment into what looks like another great LitRPG series. Combined with a very unique magic system that works to limit the MC's power, but also accentuates his cleverness, the world into which he is thrust seems authentic - if  a bit screwy. Definitely worth a binge-read.

Interesting spin on the MC origin for a litrpg.
Good so far but just get starting so hard to pass judgement.

The story is a bit confusing in the beginning but begins to grab a hold of itself around chapter 4 and 5 where things get steady.
Simply put, it is about a guy who attempted to kill the new king during a coup but failed and upon using a portal to get away after stealing the king's pendant, ends up with his soul in the body of a troll-like creature in a VRMMO despite the fact he is human. He finds out his magic somehow works and the pendant is special. This is the adventure of him as he gets stronger to get back home, which I can only assume would bring him back just as powerful as he would be leaving. There is also the looming threat of those enemies of his using tracking him through space magic to get to him.
Spoiler: Only open if you've reached Looming Threats
And as of Looming Threats, we find out that they have indeed followed him. Unfortunately for our MC, he was pretty much at 10% power when Lowen popped up. He wasn't able to use any of his spells. There is also the fact that his enemies seem to have ended up in another dungeon, with the Tyrant King probably taking a similar path as our MC when he chose the Jotnar.
The plot hints that the VRMMO is in fact an alternate world that the players connect to with their soul somehow considering the fact the MC was a real person from a different world as well but isn't 'just playing some game.' Therefore it wouldn't be a surprise in my eyes for that foreshadowing to indicate some sort of passageway that the MC would eventually open in order to traverse the worlds and retain his body and abilities.
Everything about the story is written very well and it only becomes smoother and more professional as time goes on. The first 3 chapters made me question the story, but after deciding to ride it out a bit more to fairly judge the story, I can say - with confidnce - that the story is definitely worth the time I spent reading it up until its latest chapter "Backstab".
Character interactions are very well constructed and I reall

This story is unique and interesting definitely worth reading, but is is too short for selling and in serious need of rewrite. Problems here is that there are many little errors in this book, for example how man from medieval age knows about scripts, how troll knows about bath and can use that easily in a sentence or about needing level 36 to use portal, such knowledge was never revealed.
