Description
[An action progression fantasy with party dynamics, monster invasions, and lots of strategy.]
When a young sailor’s life is torn apart by monsters, there’s only one path left for him: the way of the Revenant.
Davon lost everything to the rising tide of monster attacks. Becoming a near-immortal warrior gives him the chance to enact vengeance. Joined by Kai and Lyla, two other new Revenants, Davon embarks on the mysterious journey of reliquaries, resurrection, and costly power.
Then a new kind of monster invades the mainland. As humanity scrambles to defend itself, Davon and his new team must quickly learn to master their abilities and navigate the horror of war. With each other to lean on, they just might restore hope to the Revenants — and for themselves.

- AT ValentineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Having had the distinct privilege to read a bit of the book ahead of time, I can honestly say that I love Revenant Hunter. It reminds me a lot of some of the great apocalypse stories out there like Solo Levelling, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and the like. The difference, of course, is in the unique spin placed on it. You see, the author combined an apocalypse story with another thing I really enjoy: roguelites. These are the games where you pick your character, gear up, and then tackle all the levels and bosses ahead of you until you either triumph or perish, and it's most often the latter. Well, the power system in the book is much the same, and it works amazingly well! There's going to be epic moments, there's going to be drama, and you're going to watch the MC suffer, but it's never going to be pointless or just the author picking on both his characters and us as readers. So, give this book a shot, and I think it'll surprise you!
- GearRatioRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Looking good so far. I'm rating it high in advance because I'm looking for specifically this; something that's dealing with the idea of classes/powers/abilities in a way that's more different than just shuffling around a few words in the status screen.
Grammar and writing are all there, and it's a fast-start story with good combat so far. - R.C. JoshuaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm only a couple chapters into this, but so far I'm excited about how the classes are developing and hoping that they continue on in the way they look like they will. It's not a standard-issue skill system, for sure, if you'd even call it that exactly. That's what I'm looking for right now, as a reader. I want systems of combat/ability that work a lot differently than normal litRPG/Gamelit tropes, but still are far from normal/boring.
The other thing I'm enjoying is how quickly it gets into the action. It's a little bit of world building, immediately followed by some action, in which more world building is mixed. This is something I'm actually working on getting better at, so it's nice to see someone doing such a nice job with it.
I'm looking forward to getting up to date on this one. - Lorim IronheartRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a pretty fun story! Different than a lot of the more classical LitRPG books here. It's written well, with good characters and a nice story arc. The end wraps it up nicely with all storylines finished. The epilogue ends the story and gives a short peek of what lies in the future of our MCs. Though there is an option for a sequel if the author ever desires it...
The main issue is that a lot of things are not explained when it comes to mechanics. Nothing in regards to how they become a Revenant (besides choosing a weapon and that somehow makes them immortal), where the Reavers come from and why they're here or things like that.
Quite similar to the characters though. They're 'hired' and with no combat background (MC is a deckhand kind of person) they're thrown in combat and somehow excel.
And you know what? I don't mind. Yes there are flaws, but it doesn't really matter. The story is fun and it's a nice read for when you have a day or two off :)
When it comes to grammar and spelling: I didn't notice any (major) issues in that regard, so that's a good thing in my opinion! Makes the story a lot smoother to read compared to some other stories that are riddled with grammar and spelling mistakes.
