I don't mean to be cruel or make you look bad, but the way you write makes me cringe so bad. It's like reading bullet points from a powerpoint presentation. Anyway storywise its a very original and great story. You just need to refine how you tell it.
For example instead of "suddendly there was a huge explosion behind me" you write:
*BOOOM* The *insert boat name here* exploded sending me tumbling on the merchant ship's floor. Everyone stopped fighting....." and you go kn from here.
