Is the most evil emperor in history truly evil?

Regulus is remembered in Azalia’s chronicles as the vilest, most wretched tyrant ever to sit upon its throne. At least, that is what the historians claimed. Little is known of his early years, and his adult life is shrouded in controversy.

Some say he uplifted a species of intelligent subterranean mammals, who came to worship him as a God. Proof of his massacre was undeniable. Civilians and soldiers; foreigners and Azalians. No distinction. Yet he also ushered in sweeping technological, magical, and societal revolutions that transformed Azalia forever.

This is the story of Regulus. His beginnings, his rise, and his demise. It is also the story of those around him: friends, family, and foes. This is the truth history never knew.

This is the truth only known by few... and now, also by you.

Mmmm. This is my first time reading something of this genre, and it was an… interesting experience to say the least. The first couple of chapters are quite short, but they are written in a verse form and set the stage for the upcoming story in a very… flavorful way. Although I do think the prologue is way too short, and should be combined into the main narrative, because I don’t see it serving any actual purpose other than describing the death of the MC’s mother.
There is a huge shift in style between when the author first started and where they are now, which is quite nice to see, as always. I would recommend going back and perhaps fixing some of the old chapters and maybe combining them because they are quite short. The main character, Regulus, is a great setup for a villainous lead if you are into that.
The author’s writing conventions and grammar do need some work. I do recommend using some external tools or reading the chapters out loud once in a while, to check for those errors.
But overall, the story is coming together quite nicely, although not my cup of tea in terms of the genre and MC.

the first few chapters of this book are very ruff but around chapter 10-12 it really picks up. It’s worth your time as a reader and the reason is I call it beautiful is the way the darker themes of the story are written it just appeals to you as a reader
