Description

[Disclaimer for new readers is below the synopsis]

Zeph is searching for an out from the Earth - now that an opportunity showed itself. A slightly apocalyptic opportunity, but one nonetheless. After finally getting a chance, he is met with a very strange System that shatters his games-powered expectations, but instead, it gives him an opportunity to make use of Earth’s science. Not long after entering the new world, he meets his companion, as designed by… probably some gods? He is not really sure. But she is quite eager to beat into him some common sense, sometimes literally. Good thing too, because the real threat of this world is not something he could’ve expected, and it’s quite close by.

[Disclaimer:for people that don't like to get into details and worldbuilding, or for those wanting to justtastethe story - start reading from chapter 14 (good start), or 20 (finally plot action), as the so-called 'Infodump Arc' finished alongside chapter 20. You can always read from the start at a later time if you liked the story!  ( ´ ω ` )]

It’s an adventure comedy. Similar to situational comedy, mostly, I think. With a twist, though. Or rather, two twists.First, I want to finish this book, so it’s quite fast-paced in comparison to other books I have read (at least at the beginning), as in every chapter something meaningful needs to happen. And no, I don't plan to delete this story after it's published.Second, I am allergic to poor world-building, so there is a rock-hard basis for how everything works. I have tried to include parts of the more important info in every chapter, but even if the mechanics are physics-compatible, one needs to remember that the MC doesn’t know everything, and that certain phenomena are yet to be studied.

No place for romance, especially in the beginning. More general relationships and psychology are explored instead.

Some elements could be similar to sci-fi, mostly because of how the mechanics work, but it is a fantasy genre. Don't get discouraged! More developed worlds do exist, but won't be mentioned for a long time.

Updates once per week (until the Patreon breaks through, or until I manage to optimize my time better). Chapter length 2.5k-4k words.

Traumatic and gore warnings are here just to make sure. I will try to warn you in the author's chapter notes, too.

I will look, for sure, for #bugreports in the comments, as I am not native in English. Mistakes will happen. Not sure if I will have time to read anything more— depending on the number of comments—but I will do my best! Work takes most of my time, after all...

The format this story is told in is similar to a journal, so narration has interesting quirks. The setting is a post-apocalyptic version of Earth, and all of the troubles this entails. There is a nice mix of realism and fantasy, and a small group of characters have already been introduced. I'm liking this beginning a lot!

While the story is turning into a good one, it took a little while to get going.
And while it was a little hard to get into at first I am glad I continued. Seriously, I almost quit twice.
But then I wrap my head around three things.
One, earth humans or Terrans never had mana or prana.
Two, while the introduction to the system really worked for me and I understood why they had to travel as they did.... The way it was offered and how it offered things put me off a little....
But understanding how the main character grew and what was happening to him was explain much better in the later chapters and by introducing more characters and bringing certain things together and perspective in the story it became pretty cool by chapter 21.

So like the first 10 chapters are just world building and interacting with the user interface all the time. Like hey buys some Uber upgrades and errors out the system so it compensates, and that's a reoccurring theme. So far he has power leveled himself and that's kinda it, he is traveling and found a road now, killed a thing.
If you like a really grindy mmo or rpg this is for you.
