Reclaimer [LitRPG Portal Fantasy]

Description
A Nation betrayed and its people slaughtered.
A World enthralled by the power of tyrannical gods.
A Reclaimer violently summoned through time and space.
When the Elysean Empire fell to the Divine Revelation, the Realms were plunged into an age of godly tyranny.
In a last desperate act, the final rulers of the Empire used the multiversal System to seek a worthy soul from across time and space.
Alex Crosswood never asked to be anyone's saviour, and he certainly didn't ask to be transmigrated to a land beset by tyrannical gods, crazed zealots, and vampiric ghouls out for his blood.
However, needs justify adaptation, and with a new name and a new purpose; the first Nephilim in millennia must make it through the ghosts of a fallen Empire, inherit the will of an ancient Emperor, and master the mysterious abilities of his Calamity Core if he is to save not just the Realms, but himself as well.
Along the way he will meet fantastical races, fight alongside Dragons, and come to understand the true meaning of Heroism—and all the sacrifice that comes with it.
For if he fails, all the Realms will be doomed to suffer in unending darkness.
"I never asked to be an Isekai protagonist, but you can be damn sure I'm going to make the most of it!"

- AerodothRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It took me a while to want to figure out how I wanted to do this review. Having read the original and eagerly awaited the small hiatus' ending, I can say with certainty now that the has matured over the days of thoughtful review by Hannibal.
The plot line itself has not changed. It is still very much an epic tale, but now it feels as if the world itself (the actions of others) is no longer hiding. The added chapters for characters not previously in the original, really help to keep, me at least, imagining what was and yet could be. This new beautiful fresh intake of life adds more to the world and the universe it takes place in.
The characters themselves have not had an indept overhaul, and I feel as though they never needed one. With the changes I noted above in place, the characters seem to be more opaque in their nature now.
Stylistically, I have always loved being able to see different parts of the story happen and interact with each other, and with the story changes present, this furthers that aspect of the story's writing.
Grammar. Well the discord grammar hamsters are doing their best to keep knocking out inconsistentcies, but honestly, the grammar is nearly immaculate.
Overall, give it a read and join the discord. I'm sure you'll take a liking to it.
#JoinTheMantle! - ExChaoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read the beginning of this the first time around and often wondered what happened to it. This continuation/rewrite is even better than the original..
Dragons, loot, vampires, magic, it’s got it all and so far it is done very well. I’m excited to see what happens as the story continues! - FavouriteDragonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read both the original and Redux (chapter 61 on Redux as of current), and Redux improves on what was already an extremely promising fantasy adventure.
This story caters to that inner child. When you dreamed of fantasy and might and magic, of vast beasts and magic to bring down the sky.
Style:
4.8/5 for me. Paragraphs don't feel weighed down, there's no extra clutter, the author makes tangible efforts to show instead of tell. While some of the references are a bit liberal, that's more of a personal preference thing, and it's still reasonable in light of the characters' situations.
Story:
4.5/5. A glorious buildup that the original was messing, and more heartwrenching. I do think the author could've spent more time exploring the emotional effects of being summoned, and maybe we'll see that in the future.
Slight Spoilers: I'd like to see some conflict with Aurelian and the remnants of Elysea over them wrenching him from his family. I think he could've fought more instead of so easily accepting it.
Grammar:
5/5. No complaints.
Characters:
4.7/5. I love the depth they have, I love the grimdark setting, I love the interactions. I just wish the main character would struggle a bit more emotionally, and what I said above about Aurelian.
The story's finally shown where it wants to take Aurelian, and I love it. - Mr Exar KunRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly, when I first started reading this book (which was a recommendation from a friend) I had trepidations due to the fact I had never read or even heard of this genre, regardless, it did peak interest and so continued read on.
After the first 6 chapters of this book, I found myself clicking on the Royal Roads app for the singular purpose of reading “The Reclaimer.”
I am now up to chapter 40 and have become so enthralled in this book that when I read a comment from the writer that the book would likely get to chapter 60, a small amount of panic set in.
my mind raced with the thought of not having access to the next book immediately, however this soon past after I continued to read, resulting in my imagination exploding with intrigue, interest and the intense scenes that were unfolding with every finely tuned word!
I am excited to finish this book, as-well as eager to find out when the next volume will be ready for my dopamine fuelled imagination to absorb!
I want to say a big thank you to this writer for his hard work and commitment to keeping the consistency of the story. I would pay for your book without hesitation! - No Road UntraveledRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a restart/rewrite of Hannibal's excellent story Reclaimer: Nephilim.
The story's take on the System/Cultivation reminds me heavily of the Unbound series. It's a style I like as it leads to easy to understand LITRPG mechanics.
The main character is fleshed out with relatable motivations given the situation he finds himself in. Most of the side characters introduced so far are for the most part not just one dimensional, though it is still early in the story as of this review so not all characters have had time to be fully fleshed out. It appears to me that the author intends to do so as time goes on.
The writer's grammar is on point here, it's obvious he is putting in the effort to make sure the story flows smoothly has very few errors in grammar. The few that have been pointed out have been deal with swiftly by the author.
The story itself is relatively standard Dark Fantasy LITRPG fair. This is not to say the story is bland or generic. The story is engaging and fast paced, using a single POV with occasional POV's from side characters and the rare flashback for background.
In summary, if you enjoyed Reclaimer: Nephilim, you will enjoy this story even more. If you found Reclaimer: Nephilim lacking in a few areas, you should still give this story a try as it is a considerable improvement over it's predecessor. - TylerDamerianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I dont care what the other reviewers say im hooked cant get enough of this story great worldbuilding good mc. Sometimes i read a story and get bored 20 chapters 30 chapters in not this one. My grammar isnt good but ive read thousands of books starting with robert jordan at a younger age and this has me hooked just like them did even more shoot once i got to the last chapter i got depressed. If you like dragons and yeah the mc is kinda op but if you look at it from the point of view he already almost died and there are plenty of people way more powerful then him in the world with a small amount of allies dont get me wrong powerful but small its one of those underdog stories. and yes we have seen other books with powers and things but i havent seen one like this its very orginal. And i hope the author writes about 700 more pages cause i cant get enough now im not a very good writer so dont pay attention to the lack of periods and them other things JUST FREAKING TRY THIS STORY and do it now you truly wont regret it
- smboyceRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall: I’ve been in a bit of a reading rut, where I wasn’t really getting into any of the stories I tried to read. This was just the thing to pull me out of it. Forge has an innate ability to draw you into his world by building empathy, crafting well-rounded characters, and a lyrical style that somehow feels both classical and refreshing.
Forge doesn’t just invite you into a world rich with possibility, but rather grabs you by the collar and drags you into it. It’s a well-built world where the magic system serves as a pillar for an epic narrative that promises to stick with you long after you’re done reading. My favorite part was the author's ability to create such a compelling and immersive experience.
Reclaimer enthralls with its fluid writing and moments of poetic imagery, blending introspective monologues and vivid metaphors to foster deep empathy for its complex characters… all while subtly unveiling a seemingly endless world.
Style: With a flowing writing style, the author sweeps you along with ease. Forge’s narrative is laced with moments of true poetry. It’s not overdone, which I appreciate, but still illustrates his story through striking images that make the world hum with life. His ability to intertwine an evocative visual with a meaningful metaphor is particularly impressive. The combination anchors emotion or atmosphere in a way that often has a haunting effect.
While my tastes generally veer towards narratives that reveal their layers through action, Forge’s distinct approach is growing on me. His use of introspective monologues to deliver exposition somehow rarely feels tedious or overly somber. Instead, his storytelling technique is compelling, fostering a deep empathy for his characters and weaving in critical aspects of the setting & backstory (without beating you over the head with it). The skill required to balance character development and voice like this is worth noting.
Grammar: Impeccable. In everything I’ve read thus far, I only found a fe - SariserpittRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Although I am not someone who usually likes litrpg and culvitation elements, but I can say that I was not bored while reading. It has a very fluid story flow.
The characters are well written, but the only thing I would have wanted would have been longer dialogs. This would have made the characters' speech more reflective of their emotions.
It is a readable, enjoyable experience. I recommend. - PclerkRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Characters have their own unique feel with is rare in something written on here. The MC is lacking, he acts similar to a mid teen(15 ish) but is supposedly old enough to be doing finance as an adult job.?.? The world is designed well but it does feel like there are to many ways combined to gain strength. First few chapters are well done. Issue comes from 5 to 37. It felt like reading a dictionary, just an information dump with bad humor thrown in. Strength growth is to rapid and MC feels like he has to much plot armor, is just given things. The training descriptions and details feel lacking. Very small and rare spelling and grammar errors.
- TheMightyDonRoyal Road★★★ 3.0While both the system and the way cultivation works seems interesting, with a mildly unique combinations of the two. These are auxiliary things making a good story great. The core of this story is the cliche of the "Chosen One", with the main character being showered with incredibly abilities, opportunities and items through no work of their own. With incredibly powerful and knowledgeable beings handholding the main character, robbing him of essentially all agency and interesting personal development. I personally dislike these types of stories and most of the characters inhabiting them, so I am probably a bit biased in my scores. (I added half a star to the character score because i found Suraiya interesting and likeable)
Within the scope of a "Chosen One" this however is quite well executed, and i can totally understand why some would love this story. My only big problem with the story so far, disregarding the above, is how trusting the main character is towards the party essentially summoning him to use him as their main weapon in a war against the gods. He shows only superficial suspicion towards them, and otherwise seems to blindly trust their versions of events basically declaring the opposition evil oppressors. If this trust is obtained by some skill or revealed as a flaw resulting in consequences later, disregard this criticism since it would be my fault for not reading further.
