Style: 4
The style is very much reminiscent of a translated xiaxia novel. Very direct and articulate with few instances of flowery language. This can be good for people who are used to reading such stories but can be an issue for more generalised fantasy readers. I personally think it’s fine and perfectly fits the story the author wants to tell.
Story: 4
This is an interesting story indeed, it very much reminds me of reverend insanity with the MC giving off strong fang yuan vibes. This of course does cause certain aspects of the story to feel a tad bit derivative. Despite this the story is very compelling and manages to make you sympathise with Sero and the other orphans. Much like a lot of cultivation type stories we are thrown into a cruel and heartless society where the strong dominate the weak and the Mc who was once extremely op finds himself stripped of everything and having to start over. It will be quite interesting to see if this story will get as dark as reverend insanity does at times. the world seems to be very cultivation derived with a central continent and presumably surrounding deserts, oceans and plains that are likely sectioned off into their own societies. I personally find these kinds of worlds to be rather boring but as long as the story itself is of a good quality it doesn’t matter.
grammar: 5
The grammar is fine since I can’t remember coming across any spelling mistakes.
character:
The characters are decent so far even if a few are obviously parallels to other characters in other works such as the previously mentioned reverend insanity. The Mc isn’t as ruthless as fang yuan which I find quite intriguing. I do wonder if the author intends to have similar references to Chinese or western philosophy sprinkled throughout the novel. Sero was once an extremely op mage and now has to start all over again. So far he’s had a few cool moments but I don’t really think I’ve seen enough of him to really form an opinion. As for the - TheBarakRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Re:awake-end reads like a traditional xianxa novel with clans, arrogant young masters and cultivation methods.
Style: Writing is engaging and descriptive though it sometimes becomes too exposition heavy. The word choices author chooses are evocative, making it easy for readers to visualize the scenes. However, sometimes flashbacks and Pov shifts made me stop and reread to understand what was going on.
Story: At chapter one we meet with Dark Waters Immortal, a literal max level character. So he does what every gamer does, starts from the beginning. We follow his journey as he awakens in a young boy's body and rebuild himself from the bottom. The cultivation techniques in this world seems to be a little bit different and there are a fair bit of worldbuilding.
Character: As a character Seto is cunning, brutal and experienced. He is nor arrogant nor sadistic as some other xianxia Mcs which makes him easy to follow as a character but I wasn't able to detect any sign of character development like bonding with others or taking in his new environment. Other characters are very cliche and can be found in every other xianxia which makes the characters the weakest chain here.
Grammar: Overall, grammar is quite strong, with clear sentence structures and minimal errors. There are a few areas where flow can be improved with a quick punctuation check but I see no big problems or difficulty in reading.
