It's alright. Plenty of care has been out in creating the story. Grammar is okay. Style is readable. Character work is okay but could use some work.
Paragraph spacing is too excessive in places.
At least at the start there is no real drive for the story. The character relations are already set and have a 'happy ending' with no real larger impeding danger.
Now I am guilt of something similar too in one of my story. You have done a cool job of already giving some depth yo the characters but this robs them of character arcs i the sense of internal development. That may be utterly wrong view (it was for my story) but that is how it appears.
It givws the sense of 'slowness' because fhere is nothing lauching the story forward. No save the child, save the world.
It's isn't bad. But without a story hook like this it is hard to grip readers early on. Just some thoughts take em or leave em.
The major drama comes in chapter five. The babies are comming. Shuffle that to the beginning then you begin with drama. Not so great for your major story seed but that is a long build up and not as compelling as OUR MC is a FATHER! A much more relatable marketing and character trait.
