Description
The God of War from the world of Efra, Roki, sets his eyes on Earth and begins the process of invasion. The dormant gods of our world stir for the first time in millennia to call forth mortals to push back against the inevitable. Lawrence Able is a failed writer; still living at home with his parents. He is by all accounts, a loser, yet still those fickle gods find some ember of potential in him and send him an invite in the form of a popup on his computer.

- MacbethinstienRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story itself is a wild ride! It follows a man filled with regret, who gets a great opportunity to be something more! At first he just seems like a failure, however you begin to see he still has perseverance and a sense of justice, maybe even bravery. He has two things he cares the most about, his dog Clio, and his cat Shadow. He's willing to do anything to protect that and their progression along with him sounds interesting to read!
- BetterThanNoobWorseThanAverageRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5(In case you don't feel like searching the chapter's name, it's early in the third book).
Really enjoyed the story, the MC and the balance between his intelligence, his talent, his personality, his history, the mistakes he makes and the setbacks he faces (both those caused by and imposed on him). The PoV changes weren't as interesting as MC's but that might be more due to impatience to get through the Plot/Plot Point of the moment.
The BBEG is not an Omniscient Fate manipulator but a very competent scheming mastermind that happens to take advantage of MC's naïve mistakes/choices so it doesn't feel like his failures are because Fate has it out for him. After all, he makes (as far as I'm concerned) overall understandable if not respectable choices and does get some rewards (material, character and power-wise) every time he faces a setback, even if they aren't 100% the ones he would get if this were a wish-fulfilment story.
By that I mean:
Perfect Happy “Everyone's Saved” and “Got All the Shinies” Ending
Dropped it for personal dislike of a well-written character archetype (BBEG) and burn-out due to binge reading so I might come back later. (Already feel like doing so but am still burnt out).
By BBEG I don't know if I mean the God, his Incarnation or both because I don't know if they are one and the same as far as personhood is concerned. I hope I keep reading to find out. - kleinTheFoolRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I ain't got much to say the story is very enjoyable the MC have room for growth with a hint of a backbone that can be cultivated (not a totale whinny wimp ) so far the interactions with other characters are relatable , The systeme and worldbuilding is cool and interesting and the inclusion of myths and earth lore is good . grammaticaly ain't nothing to complaint about for me.
all in all a story with good potential , hope the author keep it up .
(i hope the last events will lead to a noticeable growth for the character ) - bsmnRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Decent story bit havey handed with fat hate but not too bad but of discontinuity between mechanice of book 1 and 2 but i think thats an editing thing and its not a big deal. Story is not bad got me inrested enough to read all thats avaible here in a few days i enjoyed it and dont hate the main character by 134 chapters which is good cannot wait for more a little sad theres not a patron... good stuff keep it up.
- MagikerRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5This is a good story with a fun premise. The MC is intelligent but not a genius. He makes reasonable mistakes and learns from them. He is also not you're typical "attractive lead", or "blacksmith soon", or other standard trope. We are still early on, but so far so good. The grammar and spelling are good quality as well. I'm enjoying this story.
Update: book 2 seems to have gone off the rails a bit. Story is more disjointed. New perspectives almost feel like they're written by somebody other than the original author. We'll see how it goes. - RoxaraiRoyal Road★ 1.0It is honestly a super interesting system but the angst fest just becomes too much. Drama and hardship can be a good driving force but you need breaks in between the hardships to grow. The protagonist is just a punching bag at this point. Another gripe I have is how stupid the whole premise of book 3 is, it is totally unbelievable and truly lazy writing.
