- Orion's HeraldRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A witch in the middle of nowhere starts by meeting a man from who knows where. It doesn’t kick off the plot right away, but their interactions are interesting. They work well on the page, and you can tell that the author has put a lot of effort into the two of them.
But I shall hold myself back before I spoil things. Moving onto the style of the story. It’s simple, but that is not a bad thing. If anything, that’s what helps it shine. For the most part, the prose isn’t cluttered with too much flower and works well.
That sets me up nicely to move on to characters. As I said in my opening, the characters—especially our two main ones—are very likable. Their dialogue feels natural, if a little strange at times. But overall the characters are a treat to read.
Moving on to the Grammer. Personally, I feel it was good. Nothing pulled me out of my immersion when I was reading, allowing for little to no friction.
And finally, we will close with the story. I like what I’m reading. But I will say I haven’t seen much of the main driving focus yet. I know how the characters see the world, but not exactly what they want from it.
Overall, it’s a smooth read with a lot of potential that I look forward to continuing.
