The grammar and story so far are excellent, and while the MC should probably see a therapist that would be true if anyone in his situation.
There are a couple of possible plot holes in the story but it's too soon for them to be explained to the reader without the dreaded info dumps that we all love to hate.
All in all I recommend giving this a try and seeing where it goes.

The concept of this novel is extremely interesting. The background history describes a future where a small subgroup of humans makes contact with an alien civilization, but only one ("the Survivor") returns. This Survivor also brings back knowledge of alien technology helping humans advance rapidly by copying it; however, he also warns that the aliens (dubbed "the Enemy") will come after humanity. When they do, obliterating Earth and all of its people in the first chapters, we find out the Survivor created a backup plan, sending uploaded copies of people's minds to a computer server along with the materials and technology to build up to cloning new bodies across the galaxy. This is the story of how those humans rebuild humanity, with the longterm goal of facing the Enemy again.
We even have two interesting characters: the MC Derek and his ex, Kelsey. The backgrounds and conflicts between them are believable and why they become important in the rebuilding effort makes sense. All good.
The issue is that we spend very little time with these interesting characters. Whole episodes are dedicated to the thoughts and actions of a much larger, but otherwise shallowly developed cast. And these characters and moments are sooooo boring while we wait for the story to get back to our enterprising MC's redemption saga.
If you like sci-fi and apocalypse, feel free to give it a shot. But I hope the author revises it to stick more closely to the MC's story, with the actions and results of other events coming in the form of smaller more direct excerpts, reports that the MC receives, or events the MC witnesses from his position on the Outreach 13. The gravitas of the story comes from the emotions of relatable characters grappling with the difficult circumstances of rebuilding humanity from extremely limited resources, not from descriptions of the events that occur along the way.
