Description
Project: Cayro Book 1has been released on Kindle and Amazon and no longer on RR.
Life after high school was supposed to be simple. Then again, nothing’s ever simple when you’re the result of a top-secret experiment. Welcome toProject Cayro—where adulthood comes with a side of “What the actual f**k?”
Cayro:So, instead of a diploma, we got “Congrats, you’re freaks!” Turns out, we’re the byproducts of some seriously twisted science.
Star:Yeah, thanks, Dad. Now if one more person tries to poke us, they’re getting a wrench to the face.
Cayro:While she’s busy throwing tools, I’m trying not to freak out over glowing eyes and splitting headaches. Oh, and let’s not forget the government a**holes who want to turn us into their personal weapons.
Star:Don’t forget the shady organizations. Apparently, we’re the latest must-have in the world of “ethically questionable superpowers.”
Cayro:So yeah, instead of a quiet life, we’re dodging bullets and piecing together the shitshow that isProject Cayro.
Star:Welcome to adulthood, where the only thing scarier than our powers is figuring out if we’re heroes or just seriously f**ked-up kids.
Cayro:Project Cayro—Where surviving your teenage years is the least of your problems.
Trigger Warning:Project Cayro contains mature themes, explicit content, and plenty of moments that will make you question humanity’s sense of ethics. Surviving your teenage years? That’s nothing compared to surviving this.
NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR:
(Book 1 is complete. Book 2 is being released now. Plan is release a chapter ever other weekend. Dragon Fleet is a side story that follows Star and Cayro's companion, Lyra Acosta. It gives a lot of spoilers that occur in Project: Cayro. As a fair warning, Project: Cayro is a slower story because it will be three books and is the beginning of the world in which is being built and is written to show multiple points of view. When I began this story back in 2007, I imagined it as an anime or movie where the reader sees more than just one- or two-character points of view. So, pay attention to the top each chapter so you don't get confused or thrown off.)

- Isa BayfieldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a plot full of very interesting characters, intriguing secrets to solve, well done action and two main protagonists you are attracted to from the start. Entertainment on a high level, well written and opening a new world full of things you just got to learn more about. Hard to put down.
Will come back to ad more later. - The Vigilant DullahanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I found the book that supposedly comes after the events in Project: Cayro and was intrigued to check out this one. And OMG let me tell you, I got hooked immediately. It's been pretty dang good and I already know people I'm going to recommend this to, that would fall in love with it and the story!
- ThrillianRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Are you ready to dive into the Caryo-verse? This web fiction pushes you a larger world, giving you a massive universe to explore.
The story follows a young man named Caryo, a bored youth who has never quite felt like he belongs anywhere...until he is suddenly thrust into a world of danger and intrigue. Recruited in the organization known as the SAF, Caryo finds himself burdened with burgeoning powers and a strange connection with a young woman named Star. As Caryo probes his origins, the US government, itself on a verge of a secession crisis, launches an all-out effort to capture Caryo and Star.
As you can tell from the synopsis, there's a lot going on in this story, but the author Zenith Zaraki uses slow burn plotting to give the story sufficient room to breathe. As a result, we get to see these characters grow and develop while also connecting with their personalities and life journeys.
The web fiction is told through a variety of perspectives, though Caryo and Star get the most screen time. The multiple POVs really help develop the characters, ensuring no one comes off as flat and one-dimensional.
The action is extremely taunt and effective. When the tension breaks and stuff goes down, you feel a powerful sense of momentum running through each sequence. There's also a clear indication of what's going on in each scene, with the resulting stakes weighing heavily on both the characters and readers without being distracting.
The world-building often comes fast and furious. This alternate 2025 exists with skycars and airships and that's just the tip of the iceberg. From [REDACTED] to [REDACTED]. there's quite a lot going on in this story.
One tiny criticism: there's so much going on that often some of the plot points don't feel as foreshadowed as they could be. But this is a small criticism to an action-packed story that always manages to find its footing.
This is seriously a fun read. The characters are great, and the individual moments between them work perfectly. I
