Description

Midday Sunson had nothing left to lose. Every morning he awoke not knowing if he would survive to see sunset, and as the hellish conditions of a plantation whose scale surpassed imagination continually destroyed him more each day, he knew his life would soon come to an end.

But everything changed when he stumbled upon a magic ring. A ring with the power to make plants grow faster. The ring gave him hope, and hope gave him the strength to endure. I will add another sentence or two here later but holy hell is writing descriptions hard. Also just so ya know, there's an ecological-type vibe going on here, but it's not really 100% about farming (i thought it would be when i started but i am a fool)

My original review covered only the first chapter; now that this story has had a few more updates and has found it's footing, I'm taking the time to write out a slightly more in-depth review.
I am a fan of going over the simple things first, so let's discuss the grammar and syntax : It's quite good, and compared to the usual fare of this website, pretty close to spotless.
Next, the character : Compared to most stories I can think of, the main character has very little agency, being a slave in a fantasy world. This, in my opinion, does not disqualify it at all from being a great story. Indeed, the setup here will serve to make the moments where things do go well all the more impactful and enjoyable.
The style is quite gritty, and has a decent amount of expletives, so if that's something you're not interested in, this story probably isn't right for you. However, in my opinion, it's done in a way that emphasizes the humanity of the main character; the sheer frusturation and anger experianced makes sense considering the current circumstances.
Finally, the story : In terms of plot progression, this story currently moves at a slower pace, although there is already noticable progession towards short term goals. I'm quite happy with the pacing thus far, and as long as there are well-defined goals to work towards, I doubt this story will get derailed or lose what makes it so good.
I do sincerely hope my review convinces people to read this story, so please do give it a shot.
    Regardless, have a nice day!

I've been looking for a nice LitRPG-story with Focus on farming for a long time to get away from all the Action/Fighting and get a more relaxed setting with some nice botany elements. After reading the first 5 Chapters i am excited for more. OP seems a little hopeless and wimpy but i guess it's part of his development. Definitely in need of a synopsis to attract more Readers and give the existing ones at least a little Heads up where the Story might be Going. The Grammar is fine in my uneducated non-native english speaker's eyes. A good Start!

Our story's hapless protagonist begins his story dying in slave labor, like a dried up raisin in the sun. Coincidence or providence steps in and reignites his will to live. Bit is it possible for a half dead, low level slave to even survive the coming hell?
I'm absolutely entranced by thw world that has been built so far. A fabulous blend of high fantasy, gritty realism and game lit architecture, come together to make a captivating Epic that promises more adventures ahead.

Royal road has quite a few fictions where the main theme is just suffering, but I think this dose it the best while others leave me with depression this leaves me with depression, intrigue ,and a bit of hope. It's got good world building and a path of progression that fits the world. And the characters fit as well, bleak but interesting. I am left wanting more.

The story is fine until chapter 4, then it just goes into squid game Bizarro world. Slave not productive enough? Here's an idea: cripple them for life, because that makes SO much sense. Not only is this insane and unrealistic, the main character gets to choose how he's crippled and doesn't pick the least detrimental punishment. Then we have this insane plotline where the MC is malnourished, but he's being fed normally and nobody else has a problem. So, the answer to this is devil peppercorn that boosts nutrition, but it tastes insanely bad.
I'm done. The story is not enjoyable to read with all the nonsense. This isn't about farming. It's discount Jim's squid game on a rpg slave plantation, where there is no logic, and everything is about torture. If you want stories to make sense, this isn't the one to read.
