Well written quality time loop story. The protagonist is consistent. The magic system is creative and interesting. The story keeps you thinking and the characters are very interesting. The story avoids some of the main pitfalls that  loop stories face by including certain risks and stakes within every loop.  I'm excited to see how things will develop.

    I really enjoyed this story.
Compared to most stories on Royal Road, this feels more mature in its prose. It doesn't rush to explain itself, creating a slow burn of mystery punctuated by well-thought-out action sequences. This makes the world feel more immersive - we're not force-fed exposition at any point, and instead, discover the rules of the world as we follow the story.
In a way, we enter this world in media res, with relationships between characters and their relationship to the world already established. In many stories, authors feel the need to lay everything out in the first few chapters. Here, we are constantly learning more in each chapter, filling in gaps that shed new light on previous pages.
This storytelling style may not be for everyone, but for those who believe in delayed gratification, it will reward your patience.
Overall, this is confident, well-paced writing that trusts the reader and lets consequences land, written by an author with a track record of quality. Stick with it, and it will sink its hooks in you.

TLDR: Give it a try if you like timeloops. 4/5
    ---
On yet another mission by her emperor, Mitsuko one day finds herself sailing to a set of islands with the mission of mapping them out. Except, the moment she approaches, a grand spell casting locks down the area. Literally, as the great bubble blocks all forms of travel and leaves the sun trapped forever at midday.
It's not really Mitsuko's problem, not least of which because she is entirely inept at even the most basic spells. She is proficient at swordsmanship and exploration. Magic is something she normally leaves for the ageless immortals serving her liege, those who have spent many lifetimes plumbing its depths.
And yet, less than a week after she crashes and washes ashore along the Prismatic Isles, she discovers the death of her best friend and dies herself when she tries to figure out how it happened. Her actions, however, draw the attention of higher beings, and Mitsuko is yanked into the Prismatic Spiral; a game of archmages so powerful they might just be gods. They made the game, but refuse to elaborate on all its rules. Or how it seems as if they are just as trapped as she herself is.
It's not all bad though. Magic can be fun to learn. Especially the time variety.
Prismatic Spiral is a timeloop with a cool world composed of five islands with distinct cultures that are a joy to read about. There are few typos, and the story has the moxy to use exciting descriptors instead of digging the same ruts over and over again.
The characterization is strong with a few standouts that I truly enjoyed reading about. Sterling is great. Holly is great. Even the trolls are great. This is further enhanced by the intriguing and unique setting, which goes out of its way to inject generational worldbuilding. The kind that tells you something about the grandparents as well as the current cast. There is a little of quest-giver-syndrome where once a person is convinced, they lore dump everything all at once, but it didn't bother
