- Gingerbreadman27Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think this book has a great start and anyone who likes the OP main characters or MC's growing into their power should definitely check it out.
You can tell that the author took the time to do some detailed world building for the background as well as giving each character their own stance on things.
I really like that the author keeps continuity by making sure that each characters events do not mess with others. I've read some books where things get mixed up early and it's great to see them keeping it all correct.
Currently the chapters are slow, but the story is very good so far. The main character doesn't start off instantly overpowered and we are currently watching him grow, even get badly injured during the tournament. I think that was a good direction which will allow Seth and the other characters to grow and be able to build more fleshed out relationships later on in the story.
It starts off with the main character not being able to use powers or anything and even going to counseling for it, (ouch) and is classically bullied by their peers.
Anyway, I recommend to give this author a chance. - QuanpoopsalotRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is very new and so it's a bit of a coin flip on whether it'll stay as good as it is right now. However, in the moment I would highly recommend reading it as it has a very in depth power system that allows for nuances after nuances. I imagine this'll lead to a possible headache for the author in the future but for now the styles of power, variety, and creativity make it one of the best power systems I have seen on this website.
Style: 9.2/10
The style, while by no means extraordinary is still good enough to where it'll keep things refreshing. I have already talked to the author about some inconsistencies but they fixed it very quick which is always a plus for me. Besides that there was really only the small inconsistency that got through to my active perception. Sometimes the dialog can feel a bit stale or off but this was only in the early chapters, mostly.
Story: 9.7/10
The author has crafted a story that is able to keep me engaged. Right off the bat we get into combat and it is thrilling. The abilities shown off during the fight really highlight both the potential of every ability and the creativity of the author to deliver on that potential. Also the fact that the author isn't afraid to write about the failings of the good guys is surprisingly rare from some of the other novels I've seen and it really should show up more often. Personally my favorite books depict both the good and the vad of the human experience so you have to include things like mental and physical trauma because practically everyone goes through it, it would feel so unnatural for characters in books not to feel the same way, that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the power fantasies every so often but I believe it's harder to showcase the Human experience within a book and the author did a decent job at it. While I might disagree with how some characters act it's not so huge as to ruin it for me.
Grammer: 9.8/10
The easiest one to get a great score on and of course this book got it as w - The CollinsRoyal Road★★★ 3.0So first off this only has the tag "Male lead". This should also be labeled as "multiple lead characters" since the last 20 chapters barely follow the supposed "main lead". And it isn't just the recent chapters. There are more chapters in this writing that don't follow the MC than chapter that do follow him. I don't read books like this as I find them uninteresting, so not knowing that going in feels like I wasted my time. If It was labeled that way I wouldn't have started reading this.
That being said If you like that kind of thing I guess it is OK. But if you want to talk about actual story? the MC is just railroaded by powerful people and plot armor. He has made 0 decisions based on logic or choice, he had to do everything they made him do or else get screwed by power/society. I feel like the side characters and their stories are only there to distract you from the fact that the MC is 2D with a lame backstory, has no powers (yet, he seems to be super human?), gets noticed for no reason by the powerful girl/love interest for no reason other than because cliche plot armor, and then randomly trained/protected by someone in a massive amount of power and political influence for no reason other than and I quote "Learned to follow her gut" after seeing him for 30 seconds. This person also only even finding out about him because of spidy sense (AKA plot armor) "they just had a feeling!". O and also that person then bets everything including their position and power and then doubles down for no reason on that choice for the MC who is a random person they just met.
So while not a bad, also not good. I'm sure there are people who like this kind of thing. Lastly, Please properly Tag your work. My Rating is based off of the story not the fact that it was mislabeled.
