This is a Weird West Lit-RPG/Isekai that I came up with for the RR Magazine contest and became attached to. Release dates are... Who knows. It's summer break and I'll be getting railroaded at work for the next couple months.
I'd also like to offer a quick thank youHan yangfor helping me clean up my bloated blurb!
Thanks for taking a look!

- Adv1d ReaderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An awesome fantasy western that has a great story, with great attention to detail, that does not go overboard. While also keeping a lot of historical facts. This story is a must-read even though it currently does not have many chapters. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
- Bloody PriestRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nothing says unique like something profoundly different yet familiar enough to not be strange.
I love how the characters are portrayed in such rich a manner that it almost feels like different people wrote the different characters.
Don't get me started on the storyline itself, with cowboys and buffalos, outlaws and crooked lawmen, this story is a winner.
Can't wait to get more chapters... - CT JohnsonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story draws you in almost immediately with vivid descriptions and a setting that makes you want to investigate the world.
The main character is instantly relatable, drawing you into his world and problems easily. Which helps you to stay engaged as he deals with what comes guys way.
As events unfold it's easy to get caught up in the action. The author brings the main character (s) to life in a way that promises a long and entertaining adventure.
The setting is one that I don't see used often, but also one that has great potential for being a hidden gem .
The pacing is great balancing descriptions stay vivid and full without making it seen grating while also carrying the story forward. The overall effect makes it easy as a reader to stay immersed.
This fiction also gives a bit of a nod to author C.S. Lewis in a not so subtle, but quite creative way. The author builds expectations in a distinct way, and then both subverts them while fulfilling them.
That shows a good imagination on the author's part and a willingness to expand and adapt I appreciate. This is defintely a series I will eagerly be awaiting more of. - K4m30Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Damn, this is a good read.
Characters are great, i mean, i hate most of them, but in the "can't wait to learn more and see them redeemed into maybe half decent people" kind of way.
Story is interesting and keeps delivering at the right pace to keep you invested.
Style is good, fits with what i, a someone with no real knowledge of the wild west, would expect. it's minimally system based, enough for things to happen, not so much its a simple numbers game of ever increasing levels and stats. - S_WinterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you're looking for a Western Isekai, look no further: you've found it. Primal Marksmage is a fantastic fusion of the LitRPG genre and Western genre. It's fast-paced, exciting, and very well-written. Olden(ish) times and modern times are brought into conflict when two Bill Wolfe's end up cohabitating. And I'm not talking about property here. If having a Wild West outlaw and a modern straight-laced guy having to share the same (dying) body sounds like a challenge, you've got no idea. Still, they soon find that they have some things in common and (maybe) can build some sort of working relationship. We'll see.
Story
A great start to this intriguingly original storyline. Each chapter had me breathless for more and I stayed up far later than I really wanted to just to read it!
Style
Very readable, very engaging, the author has a way with words. From painting pictures of the setting to giving each character his or her own personality, this author is clearly talented.
Character
As mentioned before, each character has his or her own personality and way of speaking. When Bill the outlaw is introduced, the differences between the two characters are immediately obvious - and conflicting. I look forward to seeing further character development.
Grammar
No problems noticed so if there are any issues, they certainly don't impact reading enjoyment. - StarswornAdminRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What a fun ride! A story like this deserves a lot of attention, and I'll say it's well worth your time to take a look!
Style - Westerns and LitRPG shouldn't mix at face value. Do you know what Bill says to face value? Blow it to kingdom come! The two styles of writing mesh together beautifully, and the author has done a great job making each stand out without losing itself. It's charming and fun, and I like it!
Story - The story is gripping, drawing you in early and keeping you wanting more as you read about Bill's exploits. It's struck a great blend between the country western themes and crunchy LitRPG stats, without getting too bogged down in either. The pacing is solid, and when my only complaint is "more story please" that should speak for the 5 star rating!
Grammar - Good. Not a lot to say, no typos jumped out and the sentences/formatting all flowed well.
Character - Bill is a riot. He's the kind of character you find yourself rooting for, and it's easy to sympathize with him. Other characters read well too, though we haven't spent enough time with them yet for me to have a strong opinion.
Overall, this is a charming western with all the best parts of LitRPG blended in. The weekly release schedule has stayed consistent, and the effort put in by BobCharlie speaks for itself. I'm glad I read it, and I hope you all will be too! - TonyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0For a low spoiler review of the first four chapters of this story started for the 'mirror promt' contest - a modern man gets sucked into mirror and now shares a body with a cowboy of the same name as a 'system' is about to be activated. It seems, at this point, they are staying in the wild west, but the mirror makes me think (as well as the info given in chapter 2) both worlds may be in play down the road. As of chapter 4 no system or much rpg yet, but if "An Endling's Decision" is anything to go by, the rpg aspects will be good and heavy.
Great prose and use of eye dialect. The country drawl of the new Bill comes off great. Extrememly interesting and well written start. - ajcernaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A fun take on isekai. The MC not only isekais into a different world, but into the body of someone who is about as far from him as possible. I'm only five chapters in, but this story promises some interesting dynamics between the MC and the secondary character, and there's a lot of potential for them to grow to learn from each other. I can almost sense an interesting buddy cop dynamic.
The "Western" talk is a bit cliched at times, and there are some phrases that feel anachronistic--or, anamultiversistics....? Like, "Get out of Dodge," which is a phrase that comes from an old TV show in our world. I'm not sure how that gets translated into this world. Also, some Spanish phrases makes me wonder how much crossover there is in this one that overlap with ours.
Regardless, these are small complaints, as I'm eager to see where things go. - bukvyrmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0to keep reading it!
As a fan of the western, sci-fi, fantasy, litrpg, historical...etc. genres, this sounds like something i want to read soooo much! And the first few chapters have really delivered so far - very fast paced, interesting characters, new take on the system apocalypse subgenre. Currently rather trope-ish, but honestly, what else were you expecting with a premise like this one?
I'm hoping for more western/litrpg parody stuff and the current screw-ball humour and diagonally parked in a parallel universe feel to continue. Also, while a bit of "i didn't know it would do that" dumbness is understandable and getting out of it for reazonz does happen, please don't make a habit of it!
Now that i've put a bunch of pressure on the author, i'd like to say that i prefer quality to quantity, so take the time when you need it, even though the way to rising stars is usually through smoking fast [good] releases [hint hint].
Day 2 of finding it and i'm highly entertained by the gratuitous violence. Which is violence for no particularly good reason. Also, the extreme absurdity of said violence, reminiscent of Dragon Ball Z. - kanundraRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Opening.
BobCharlie has skill in starting out stories you just want to read. So, this doesn’t miss a beat either in terms of making you want to turn the page, or in wanting more when it’s over… and I admit its over far too soon.
Story.
We follow Bill, ‘a newly-minted college dropout in the midst of a weeks long mental decline.’ Trying to save money….
That trying to save money…. Got him staring straight into a mirror…. Boom life changes fast huh? Off he goes into a whole other world.
The worst thing… well he’s in someone else’s body, and they’re still there! Omg! Rightly so Bill thinks he’s lost the plot.
Style.
This follows Bob’s other story in terms of writing prose, it’s clear and thought out and isn’t full of info dumps. I admit I would like more dialogue but that’s personal because I like to see and feel progression through getting to know the MC and the new situations, they find themselves in, it just develops a little slower than I’d like but by all means its not a bad thing. These chapters are nice and short, so in terms of story this is just getting going. I would usually balk a bit at the ‘look in the mirror’ trope to see what the MC looks like, but this is actually done pretty well, and because it fits the actual prompt too, to include a mirror.
Grammar.
Nothing stands out here at all in terms of anything off. It’s a pretty smooth read.
Characters.
Bill – he seems to be overwhelmed as you would be. He takes the whole thing kinda on the nose with out too much over the top complaining. I think that’s done really well imho and give us insight to his character even if he is a dropout who is skint.
Wild Bill – Much older I think... and has such panache its going to be hilarious. Of course I want more now, because I can see how this – relationship is going to be. Full of fun, hardships and yep, more fun!
Closing.
What can I say? Really apart from I want more this is a unique start and has the potential to become something of a huge adventure as both characters
