Description

The battle against the Kobar Empire was utterly lost, and I lay dying when a strange blue screen appeared. [ You have been identified as having the aptitude needed to be a Player. Would you like to reset the game and try again? ] "A game?" I laughed. Blood spilled out of my mouth and ran down my neck. "I don't know if this is some weird near-death hallucination… but if I have a chance to reset everything and save everyone I cared about… of course, I damn well accept." [ Reset in progress. ] [ Beginning Round 2. ] [ … ] [ Error. Partial Player. ] [ … ] [ Active Players: 0.4 ] ** If you're looking for a story with a MC who starts out very strong or very clever, this ain't it. Luca is neither. Luca is weak AF and... an idiot. ** Luca will also die. A lot. It's a time-loop story. But with enough game resets (ahem, deaths), Luca will learn and grow, so there's hope for him yet. ** This is a slow-burning and character-driven novel. It's also going to be long. Arc 1: Ch 1-77 Arc 2: Ch 78-164 Arc 3: Ch 165-248 Arc 4: Ch 249- You can read ahead 10 chapters onPatreon.\(• ◡ •)/ Release schedule:1 chapter per week. Released at 12:30PM PST / 8:30PM London Time.

I've really been enjoying this story, I came upon it by complete chance and devoured it in one prolonged sitting. It just feels like a thoroughly enjoyable story. With plenty of exciting things happening in the present and plenty of other exciting things being clearly forshadowed for the future. If you are looking for a fun time loop story that isn't too skill heavy (at least not yet) this is certainly the one for you.The style is consistent throughout. Each arc is explored well and links smoothly into the next with a consistent voice throughout. Luca who's point of view we follow has a clear personality which is at it's core static throughout. It doesn't feel like he shifts to mold what the story requires of him which is often the case in time loop stories especially. Some characters shine more than others, but they all have their charms, Luca is interesting enough to carry the story and his brother Micah is especially facinating. Can't comment all that much of the grammar, i've never noticed an issue myself which is enough to give it the top marks there. It doesn't feel stilted which is a good sign for the grammar. Though it is made up of lots of shorter punchy sentences and paragraphs which works well for Royal Road but I know can turn some people off.Final thought is that i love the morning teas, a highlight of every loop in my opinion.

This is not just good. This is amazing.Characters are great and flavourful, plot is thick, characterizations are nice. Checkovs rifles are shooting. The only regret is that I learned about it maybe a year ago, and not when the book got finished, so I could indulge myself in it.Weak parts - well, this is weekly release. It can't be too polished. If this one day gets a book release with adjustments - I'd buy it.

No, but MOL is probably my favourite story ever written so its hard not to and this stoty scratches the same itch. This is a really solid story, that makes use of a really interesting premise to establish its loop. Initially the fact that the story all takes place in a game made me hesitate, but it is well done. It is very similar to Threadbare in that its only rarely touched on.The main character is easy to sympathise with, falling into the trope of a superficial fop pre-loop. However, we skip the first pre-loop, loop so we dont really see this much, due to the original timeline maturing him a fair bit. I think this was a good choice.the story itself does a great job of keeping the pacing tight, but it does sometimes read a little like the author is introducing new twists as he goes along. This is fine, and each twist is enjoyable, but it would stretch plausibility if the world WASNT a game.Supporting cast are interesting, with plenty of variety, but only a few are fleshed out properly. This is pretty typical in a time loop, particularly in the start. There is an element of the MC seeming socially overpowered, very much like "Tori Transmigrated" where the mc is surrounded by powerful people who bend to his will. Its not egregious, and when it is explained it makes a lot of sense, but was a bit strange and the reveal was quite slow.Grammar wise I am not a good judge but never noticed any mistakes.Overall, I binged all 100 chapters in a day and plan on reading the four patreon chapters later today. I highly recommend this story to anyone who likes time loops. It has the core element that makes loops so interesting, which is that gradual improvement over iterations. If the game element makes you wary, as it did me, I would advise you give it a go anyway as I really enjoyed it.

Story is about a NPC who becomes a player after the players leave the game. It basically is a time loop mystery story, as he resets after dying. Which happens a lot because the world is dangerous. Everything is well written and enjoyable to read. There is a leveling system, but it doesn't displace the story. Word count filler is not a problem either. We need more novels like this.

I really like this book. It is fast paced, with unexpected plot twists.  Parts of it reminded me of a PC mystery game with a constant, "what's gonna happen next?" feel.  I really enjoy how that MC, as well as the reader, is left in the dark, trying to figure out what is going on.It has a unique spin on the RPG game genre.  It does have a time loop element, so if that is not your thing be warned.

Original review, approx chapter 50: first of all the premise is not new but it is done quite well.
The characters all have unique voices and the pov changes are not overdone they show up ad a new layer to the developping mystery then we return to Luca who has a cool dynamic layed out in the first couple chapters that i hope to see more of. Micah is dark and mysterious but seems to genuinly care for his brother and country while clearly having a dark side and while the rest of the characters are not as flushed out each has more to them then simple one not side characters.
the story is a fantasy litrpg mystery.... thing? my biggest gripe is in the early chapters Luca can solve problems with one or two words to the right people and he doesn't it seems like his low intelligence score is the reason but now that it's higher and he is still trusting the wrong people i don't know. that being said it's a story and i accept that good characters make dumb decisions in character all the time so i reserve judgement.
only thing i can say about grammar is its not distracting i have dislexia and the lack of indentation is annoying but appart from that it seems fine.
Update: story has progressed well, a lot of Luca's choices are well within his established character and he has compelling growth. The mystery has mostly been solved and now it is more a game of politics and shadows. Highly recommend its a great binge.

Written at chapter 90Player 0.4 is a story about how the main character Luca gets to go back in time in order to save the kingdom and everyone he cares about.A suspicious System that no one knows about grants him the option to become a Player with the usual benefits of a system, such as stats and skills, and additionally he gets the ability to Time Loop.In many stories where someone gets to do everything over to save everyone and everything, the main character is either very strong or very clever.Luca is neither. Due to the loop going back 7 years in time, his body is frail and untrained. And also, Luca is an idiot.Do not misunderstand this fact; oftentimes authors write characters that are supposed to be cool and clever but keep making idiotic choices and decisions which make them infuriating to read. That is not the case here; Luca is an actual idiot. The System confirms it. So expect him to make stupid choices and overlook seemingly obvious things because of it.The good part here is that since he is an idiot on purpose by the author, it isn't infuriating to read and there is actual hope that he will grow and learn. His Intelligence is already many times what it started out as!Now, onto the scores:Grammar is a clean 5/5.The characters are very enjoying to read, and I feel like there has gone significant effort into fleshing out the major characters. One thing I want to mention is that Player 0.4 uses shifting POV from time to time, showing how some of the other characters think. This is not something I have seen in Time Loop stories before, since all these thoughts will eventually be reset. Despite that, I think it works very well. It gives interesting insight into how and why the other characters act as they do, and it also gives some hints of what is happening behind the scenes that Luca doesn't see.I enjoy the story and what is happening, but I have decided to take half a star off for one reason: Everything moves very slowly. I get that having the story move slow

It’s a good timeloop story, a different vibe than I originally expected but it’s been fun and easy to follow even as I have it on audiobook in the background of playing some games
I like the main character, he was the average dude in the midst of a family of unique and exceptional talents. Yet he never resented them or their abilities, and while he sank into alcoholism after losing everything with some help he overcame it and fought to the last for what he cared about. From the start of the looping and thus the story we follow his road of becoming increasingly skilled and adapted to the intrigues and dangers of the world. The loops all hold a serious weight due to the amount of people who are able to remember the past and act upon it, so he can’t just carelessly waste the restarts whenever he pleases.
biggest complaint is that sometimes things are a little too easy and trivialized for him, I’d like to see a few loops where someone actively set their sights onto killing him from the get go and he being forced to fight tooth and nail to find a way to either beat or at least halt the aggressor from continuing to so in the next loops.
all in all a great story that’s certainly worth a read.

I just binged through the whole series a couple of days ago, and can fully recommend it. While Luca does have the issue mentioned in the description of not being the smartest cookie in the jar, I still found the story highly enjoyable. He does have a few exceedingly smart ideas, such as getting into the information trade between loops. There is an interesting plot with fascinating twists to make the story substantially less repetitive, avoiding the issues that normally plague time loop stories.Style - I generally liked the writing style, not really noticing any glaring flaws, besides that a few characters were presented too opaquely in the beginning.Story - The story is beautiful, and seems to be just getting started. I will make a point of sticking around to read future updates.Grammar - I didn't spot anything memorable, but I also don't read with an eye towards nitpicking grammar.Character - Generally good characters, but again, Luca is a bit slow on the uptake at times and can neglect to do important things. Often involves not asking questions when he should be, and not sharing when he should be. There are a number of issues that are solvable by just admitting to being in a time loop, especially since his family is aware of the possibility. And being in a loop, it doesn't cause issues on his end for more than a loop either. But overall, I do approve of his character.
