- BoredBeyondBeliefRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Monsters don't talk to their prey.
They don't taunt.
They simply survive, if they find a better way to survive they do it.
A monster might plead for mercy but it has already accepted death.
This story is one of the few to make a monster that feels real.
Origin point had a similar feel but the author tried to make him too human while also being inhumane. - HyeonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Its the first real monster with the main character trying not to blend in with the humans (still dont understand why everyone does that kills all the monster storys in my opinion)
- sinkingshipRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I've read to the current chapter (44) and think the story is pretty good. I knocked half a star off because there are actually quite a few persistant grammatical errors, more than a few times I noticed words being used wrong and it was jarring. Also a lot of the dialogue is hard to follow especially in the action sequences.
For the story itself it is - as another reviewer put it - "brutal". There is a lot of blood, a lot of guts, a lot of betraying rubes that for some reason let a monster into their homes (this happens more than once and it stretches credulity a bit). The plot can more or less be summed up with "a monster who has a single-minded focus on extracting magic from whatever it can does just that". Then, know that "magic" is found in glands that grow inside humans and specific monsters with magical power and as the main character grows stronger it begins to develop a desire to create a huge insect-like "hive" and you can see the general arc of the story.
If that sounds like your cup of tea then by all means, read on. But, again, like everyone else has noted, the author doesn't pull any punches while playing up the "horrible ruthless monster" angle - you've been warned. - Genisyn69Royal Road★★★★ 4.0This isn't like most stories on RRL, not even close. Not even sure it could be qualified as Anti-Hero. This is (as of ch23-beka2) a straight up monster fiction, told from the viewpoint of the monster. Uncaring, brutal, Imagine boxxy (if you read that story) or his summons having no leash, or no want/need to blend in. I have to say it is well written, very little errors, and definitely full of action at this point. I don't think the true story or plot has really kicked off yet, if anything its still teaching us about the world.
If you don't mind a lot of gore, if you don't mind a lack of empathy, and are looking for something a bit different give this a shot. - NilsyRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Its not a bad story but i fear that its a little to "hardcore" for most readers, this isnt some humanlike main character this is the type of story were you feel how ruthless nature are.
- caby202Royal Road★★★★ 3.5Rather nice change. They don't act human at all. A mistake most authors start to do. They're rather ruthless in their breeding and it's nice.
You need to go back and get an editor or proofread yourself most of the earlier chapters. Lots of grammar errors. They still exist even in the recent chapters. And the story really starts to pick up from the beka chapters.
