Description
This here is the older version of my book series; read my republished version here:https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/157187/origins-of-blood-republishedDISCLAIMER: This story is written in the present tense, first-person, and in multiple POV's. Therefore, it might be jarring, moreover, confusing at the beginning and in some parts of the story; however, as the first Volume is a setup book, it's intentional. The whole series will be—if you push through it—probably one of your favorite book series. I made some mistakes at the beginning, such as overusing "I" or writing things that weren't meant to be in the first person. However, I gradually learned from my mistakes... Short insight: I was a fool to believe that I, a mereRedd, could play God.A fool to think I could change the world, to balance evil with good.A fool to trust that those dearest to me would always remain by my side.In this world, where blood reigns supreme, a single misstep is all it takes to lose oneself.Ren, my dear little brother,I hope you still watch over me, even though I am unworthy.I’ll be with you soon—just wait a little longer. If you're looking for a story with Lotm-like Power System and Red Rising-like Hierarchy, search no further. You stumbled upon the Novel that fulfils everything in that regard! W potato - Denise12345Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Wow just wow. I'm literally on the egde of my seat. This fire is this story man. This is fucking insane. The story follows Elliot, a man who can forsee the future. But nkw is traped in a world full of monster (diffefent blood colors like in Red Rising (Bjt original and not just copy pasted. To my tasting the authkr did an even better job then pierce brown with the powers) ). Elliot is now oppresed as a sla e in an unknown world on the search acter his brother. The Grammar is on point. He shows and does not tell the story. I generaly can licture nearly any moment and am excited even in small things with no action. The worldbuilding aswell. The Powersystem aswell. Blood everywhere. The theme is dark and bloody as I like it. Somebody said that it would be too many blood colors of tge rainbow. But man this makes it unique. The characters are well written. The story progresses not too slow nor too fast. It's well crafted with mystery elements aswell as action and gore. The style is very unique and I believe this gem has the pltential to get big. There are also some unique elements like the rituals in german 'cause it' s tge language of the gods I believe. There are many other unknown facts which will be revealed hopfully as the other information. Which the author also used well. (I mean he did't really info dumbed). 5 Stars from me for now. Great Job author. Keep the great work!

- SpyfeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel holds a lot of depth and the character development is insane. If you feel lost in the beginning it is purposeful as the novel is written first person, but there are other POVs that give context to the story. At first it is a slow burn, but after the introduction, the story gets moving fast. Specific characters like aston help develop the hierarchy of the story and give the reader insight. When following the main character, there’s a lot of confusion, but the right amount. What i mean by this is that you are limited to what the character feels and it amplifies the story as it shows the scale of the apocalypse. This story is a true masterpiece so far and the room for growth is immense. Not only is just the main character developed greatly, but also the side characters, once again adding depth to the story. The variety of characters and the complexity of each shows the authors skill and the overall novels sophistication. The only disclaimer I would add for this novel is the amount of gore and explicit topics in the novel. For example, there are heavy topics of rape, assault, human trafficking, and torture.
- SungJinMoriRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well made novel, fleshed out character, and a comic in the discord server. This book is thoroughly enjoyable, with an engaging plot that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
Ah yes, the author has a discord server where they upload the novel's comic.

Tbh it's pretty good like a 8/10 it's not absolute but it's definitely not trash or average it's great. So if I had to rank it in my current top 15 it would sit between 11-13. I believe there could be some improvement on the pacing right at the start like between chapters 12-34 BC I felt it was quite messy but other than that the story has a great premise id recommend 😁. - NozdokRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well I've got to admit that I wasn't expecting much from the start, and yet Origins of Blood turned out to be one of those rare stories that manages to feel both familiar and completely fresh at the same time. From the very first chapters, the atmosphere pulls you in — dark, heavy, yet full of energy. Blood, flesh and a bloody potato writing bloody stuff hehe.
So Origins of Blood is a dark yet strangely beautiful journey — one that begins with despair and blood, but gradually reveals a story about survival, choices, and what it means to cling to humanity when the world itself seems intent on stripping it away. Without spoiling, the novel follows a protagonist, Elliot, who is thrust into a world where power is both a gift and a curse, and every step forward feels like a test of strength, morality, and identity.
The worldbuilding is carefully layered, revealing just enough to keep you curious while never overwhelming you with info-dumps. As a reader, I’ve found myself constantly wondering what lies beyond each twist, and the payoffs have been consistently satisfying in general.
What I particularly enjoyed is the balance between character development and plot progression. The protagonist is written with real depth — not a flawless hero, but someone whose flaws and decisions make them feel alive. Supporting characters aren’t just side pieces; they each add weight to the story’s moral themes and conflicts.
I guess I also liked the constant POV shifting, it always adds depth to the reading process.
That said, the pacing can sometimes, in my opinion, feel uneven: moments of rapid intensity are occasionally followed by stretches where the narrative slows down a little bit. Still, even these quieter chapters usually carry thematic weight, so they don’t feel wasted — more like opportunities to breathe before the next storm, and believe me I actually mean it (even I as an experienced reader was taken aback by some plot twists). The writing style itself is engaging: descriptive - Ramin AhmedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first picked it up from some recommendations on TikTok, but this story really pulled me in. The concept of different blood colors representing power paths is fascinating, and it lends the world a sense of depth and danger that feels unique. You can tell right away that the author put their heart into building this setting.
What surprised me most was how the story isn’t centered on the main character right from the start. Instead, it shifts between multiple POV's. At first, this can feel a little challenging, but you get used to it quickly, and it ends up being one of the novel’s strengths.: Especially with characters such as Aston. Seeing events unfold from different perspectives really highlights the schemes, the politics, and the way each bloodcolor shapes the world. By the time the MC takes center stage the weight of everything around him feels much more real.
Of course, there are moments where the pacing could be tighter, or where some descriptions linger longer than they need to, especially with theoveruse of 'I' in the beginning of the story (which is improved throughout the story. In general the prose has gotten better throughout the Chapters), but honestly, that’s a small complaint compared to what it delivers overall.
Overall, Origins of Blood is ambitious, very emotional, and is especially not afraid to take risks, which some stories don't do these days. If you’re looking for something that feels different and makes you think while still pulling you into a world similar to Lord of the Mysteries and Red Rising, this is a novel worth your time. - Sandwich_08Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not usually into stories with horror elements but this novel is very good at throwing me into the deep end (in a good way). You get to the action immediately, you feel for the characters, and the blood based power system is interesting. And since this is the author's first real novel, we get to see the improvements in real time and it's really easy for a newbie to get into it.
