Galactic Government conspiracies, abandoned soldiers, and mysterious insectoids all stand between Joseph and a peaceful realization of his efforts to make a home.
- Story is a mix of perspectives starting at Chapter 10, focusing on our Human lead until then.
- This story is my first attempt at writing, and as such, improves greatly as chapters progress. I would appreciate if you would power through the first 9 or so chapters where i'm still learning how i want to write.

- MomolardRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a simple history on the start, human gets stranded in alien planet and has to survive. But along the way he finds new people, build relationships and unravels secrets. This is a complex history that it's not difficult to read, the scenes are well built, the combat is well paced, the writing is fluid and the characters feel like real three dimensional people. This has a good and well paced start that gets slower with time as it focus on building the world and starts to get intense towards the end as the secrets are revealed. Definitlely worth your time, the writer is a master of his office and you can feel the progress along the way. An amazing job Wave.
- Ronen_DexRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Title says it all but I'll elaborate here. I found this on reddit by pure happenstance, and was hooked by the end of the first paragraph. For a self professed amateur, the author has raw talent and a penchant for twists and turns that feel genuine rather than forced for shock value. I've been reading HFY tales since some of the earliest old greentexts and I can say for certain this is one of the best. The characters feel like real people with depth and intricate emotional growth, the story feels grounded, not in spite of it's vast fantastical background elements, but because of them! And the romance? Brilliant. Character romance with actual gradual buildup and explorations of emotional depth are far too rare in this genre. Rather than having Joe be a bland Zap Brannigan ripoff, he's just a good man with a big heart, and that's beautiful. You won't regret reading this.
- AngiusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0By the last quarter of this book I had to consciously portion it out for myself, to not run out too fast. I had to force myself to savour it, an hour a day or so, instead of just swallowing it whole. And now, that I finished, I'm having trouble finding anything else to read because I know that nothing else will be it.
There is only one criticism that I can give, and that is that I feel like it didn't quite use all of the potential that existed in the story and the characters. Especially by the end, without spoiling anything, a couple of things gets introduced that never actually get explored fully, just resolved.
By the end I was wondering "damn, how is the author going to wrap up this and that in just three chapters?" And it was wrapped up, surprisingly well for what it was. I'd still have preferred to spend thirty chapters on fully exploring those, instead of a — well done as it was — wrap-up.
I still urge everybody to read it, though. There are not many books that absorbed me to this degree. Not many that I wanted to savour despite my desire to devour.
Detailed review below:
The grammar was on point, I haven't noticed any issues whatsoever. The tense was consistent, which is surprisingly not a given when it comes to works posted online.
The style doesn't get full 5 stars only because I recall 2-3 moments where I had to re-read some passage to fully understand what was being said. Besides that, the language is clear, the flow is perfect, each PoV matches the character, and dialogue makes it easy to understand who's talking without resorting to repeated use of "said."
Characters are great. I loved all of the main characters. They were all consistent in their behaviours, language used, their motivations. There were no 180s being done because the story demands it. Everybody was internally consistent and a delight to follow around as a reader. I'm taking away half a star only because the main-ish villain felt kind of... flat. He was given a motivation, but only near t - AndrobirdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great world building, loveable characters and an interesting story that always keeps your interest. It can get a bit repetitive at times, but there's always progress towards something either relationship or plot wise. Recommend to all, especially those who are looking for first contact stories with romance elements and colony building.
- Demetrius_TDHMRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Excellent pacing, thrilling action, loved every second of it! Joeseph’s development from depressed castaway to an interstellar-scale badass was cathartic to witness. It felt beautiful to see everyone’s relationships take shape! Highly recommend to just about anyone with a taste for sci-fi and fantasy! Everything felt so right! I’m glad I got to read this, it was such a beautiful story!
- A morteRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read this entire story on reddit and im here to give a review cause it is not nice to read an entire story and not review it.
This is very good, characters are done in depth, there is consequences to the MC action, the story is well paced and intriguing but most important of all... It has pancakes. - some total kretinRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5TL;DR: /R/HFY that translates to a relatively tasteful light sci-fi, light survival, romance, character-driven base builder. Expect the human(s) to rule - even if not as hard as you might fear if you know the genre — so far so light escapist reading.
A guy finds himself on an alien planet after crashing, finds allies, builds a base, finds more allies, starts a romance and so on. All driven by characters/dialogues that don't seem stupid - even though there is a whiff of wish fulfilment of a lonely thirty year old IT guy. I am enjoying it! :)
(I'm reading the unedited version before it gets here, so the story here is not that far yet) - Awesome ChameleonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I don't give 5 star reviews, nothing's perfect, but this story is pretty close.
I primarily read on reddit, hence UTR(upvote then read), and thought I'd come leave a review.
It has action, suspense, romance, aliens, mysteries, the only thing it lacks is literal magic. The only thing I can fault it for is the jugleing of too many main characters and descriptions that come after the reader gets time to develop a mental image.
If chapters came out any faster, I'd lose years of time reading it. - jmc5003Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the author's next book regarding the same universe. The author's grammar improves as the story goes, although they seem to retain an obsession with the word "smirk." I recommend taking time to read this new author, especially if you're looking for something with a positive ending.
- ranocheRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The first arc of the story with just the mc and his new family is a touching and fluffy story of group trying to survive in a hostile alien world. Genuinely fantastic and the sense of connection they had with each other and it's growth was touching to watch.
Then new aliens are introduced who are constantly horny for the mc and doing what all hfy novels do and make the aliens dumb to make humans seem smart. The mc who was originally written as kind of an average Joe with a passing interest in MMA and generally struggled to succeed in life becomes a combat expert, electrician, tech specialist, and crafter. He's a Gary stu and as the story progresses I'm seeing more and more of the same power fantasy tropes that make hfy novels insufferable
As an example the aliens he meets developed spaceships and plasma weapons but never bows. Just fought with melee only until they discovered gunpowder and skipped right over all forms of non explosion based weaponry. Despite their love of melee they have no idea how to use their own bodies to fight. Jax talked about the concept of a roof like it was a foreign concept. The aliens are constantly in awe of the mc and are constantly talking about how much they want to bang the mc or let thier partners tag team him. It's such a chore to hear about a coming conflict about to pop off only to have to get through an entire chapters of ultimately meaningless chit chat about how much they love and trust the mc.It completely ruins the pacing. I am sincerely disappointed in the direction of the novel and will not be reading any more.
