Description
Sappers lead the way. It was a slogan Jake had heard a million times, but he never thought it would apply to leading the way into another world. Stuck in a new universe with new rules that resemble an RPG, can this former combat engineer with poor social skills survive or even better, lead his fellow survivors to thrive?
This was written contemporaneously with Now That's Entertainment, with different characters and mechanics. I've decided to post both in hopes of comparing how they do.

- ConteurRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a story with some GameLIT elements. There is XP to be earned and levels and goods to be bought with it, but you won't find distracting pages full of blue box stats, endless skills, or paragraphs of whinging over how to best spend a single skill point.
On the surface, the story itself is full of base building, crafting, and survival in a hostile world. The characters are easily identified through dialogue, each with their own goals that don't always mesh with those of the MC.
Just under the surface is a lumpy tale of two political ideologies. The Evil Communism verses the Holy Libertarianism.
The reality is that the Libertarians are relying heavily on democratic socialism while the Communists appear to be turning into a heavily taxed capitalist dictatorship.
The political and ideological aspects of the story aside, the characters are currently in a race to the beat of an unknown system that has decreed a 30 day limit to "build a village" - with unknown consequences for failure. It's going to be interesting to see how things play out.
Overall, it's a good story and although the pacing is a bit slow at times, it's well balanced. There's lots of character interaction, sprinkled with just enough crafting and combat to keep things lively. - QberRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nothing's perfect and neither is this fiction
however, I like the 3D characters and the fact that story isn't centered around just fighting
Interesting read, thanks for posting and good luck with it
Less LitRPG, more surviving outside of civilization, exploring etc. though I believe, magicians will show up later, when the stats grow - TheirTheyreRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm glad this is back - it's a good "random people get dumped into a game system and have to survive" story, with the people having to build up their economy nearly from scratch except for stuff they can buy for xp.
My memory of the early chapters is a bit hazy, since there was a hiatus and I didn't go back and reread, but chapters are now being posted at a rapid rate, and it's good stuff.
Recommended! - baelrathRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story so far.
Unique take on concept.
Basically a survival / base building story.
Imagine all those Survival Man shows and the stuff they do to forage and build and thats this story.
Litrpg is in the background giving minor bonuses. It becomes more ease of plot / life in terms of there a magic shop they can buy anything they can think of: bag of holdings are a thing and too handy to ignore.
Magic "exists" but so far its more Magic-tech than wizards running around.
Story is taking the effort to show how Human peeps are, even in another world. Discord and separate ideas butt heads and we see how they handle that.
Oh and Mechanics wise story is top notch. Well edited and no issues whatsoever. - hawjeffrRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm really enjoying the focus on development of a society and especially am looking forward to the comparisons between the two societies currently in play. I'm also liking that the MC is working with his current skill set rather than going OP with the magic that is readily available. His character seems to recognize his limits, such as they are at the current stage of the story (Chap. 22) and he is building on what he knows at this point.
id like to see a bit more development of the overall story arc but the pace is pretty good so I'll be patient.
A note on grammar - THANK YOU! A well-written, grammatically correct novel on this site is, unfortunately, a rarity. Finding an author that takes the time to accurately punctuate while also using appropriate word choices is a true joy in this fallen world of text shorthand and slang.
Overall good character development and exploration is driving the story.
A very satisfactory beginning to what looks to be a great novel. Recommended! - moredreadRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Its a little hard for me to review this. The writing is good, good syntax. The MC does come across as a jerk. But he himself says he is a jerk. Besides, who says all MC have to be nice guys.
The story isnt original. Basicly a large group of humans get pulled into a game setting. Its called the tutorial. So im assuming that when its done they will go someplace else.
The biggest problem for me is if they die in the "tutorial"they just respawn. This does annoy me. But other than that its a good story.
