Description
Jenna Fairchild has a secret she has been keeping since she was a baby. Under her headband, under her grandfather's fedora, under her headphone strap, and under her messy bun, she has been hiding a black crown. No one could understand it, so she had to keep it hidden.
That is, she had to keep it hidden until she was abducted by aliens, given riches beyond her wildest dreams, a palace to herself on an alien world, and been tasted head-to-foot by an enormous alien octopus. Then she was ready to take her place on the political stage of the universe. Jenna is not a princess, she's a diplomat. Armed with arms that are less plentiful than an octopus's, with fewer suction cups, and only one person who can help her... Sardius, who is only a voice speaking to her through an earpiece,Jenna has to crown seven more diplomats or blue and red blood will spill.

- superlloydRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is everything one come to expect from Stephanie Van Orman. There is romance, there is mystery, there might be danger, there is great world building, there are many characters relevant to the plot, which are introduced and presented in loving details.
I feel like I can't come up with a good description that do justice to this story. This is neither slice of life nor mindless action combat. It's something else. it's also in space and somewhat nonsensical like a Terry Pratchet book, with romance too.
This book is the most violent of all Stephanie's book I read so far. Yet fights, when they happen, barely take a sentence or two. Instead, here, we are more concerned about dealing with the unfortunate consequences, such as escaping imprisonment. Or perhaps planning against more bad surprises. - Emma NacarRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I have not finished the story, but what I have read so far is clever, original, and amusing. It disappointed me that it switched fairly soon to a "love story" between FMC and the person she can't meet in person. However, it's a nice exploration of what is involved in a love-relationship beyond appearance and sex. I give it four stars because it is a strong piece of writing even if the overall plot doesn't engage me.
